We’re definitely at that part of the year we dress halfway for one season and halfway through the day the season changes. So bare legs and fuzzy jackets are the winning combo right now.
We all four went to Gilchrist this morning for “Donuts with Grownups” for Emerson. It was super cold and windy though, and basically miserable. So we all scarfed down a donut and ran.
Addie was wrapped up in Jeff’s jacket, and still trying to hide from the blustery wind!
Then we went on a little tour of the VPK program at my alma mater, NFC! Obviously, I’m very familiar with it, having gone to school there from kindergarten to twelfth grade, but it was Jeff’s first time. And we both loved it, and think it would be a great little place for Addie Pie! We do have one more appointment scheduled with LCS to see if we could get her into the VPK program at Gilchrist with Emerson, but I have no idea yet how that will go or if there’s any space, or how any of that works, etc…
We were overdue for a mom & sister lunch, so I picked up Meg from her office, and we met up with Mama at Midtown Caboose. She was starving after forgetting to eat breakfast, so she had already ordered the peppercorn goat cheese appetizer before we got there, and I loved that. It had balsamic vinegar drizzled over the top, and I wished there had been more of that actually.
I ordered the PB&J burger, with both strawberry & blueberry jelly on the side, and this thing was so good! The mix of the sweet & savory & salty, with the burger & the bacon & the jelly, is such a good combo!
Dinner tonight was chicken burrito bowls, with crockpot chicken, peppers & onions that I started this morning. Add on some corn & black beans, plus sour cream, cheese, and salsa, and this was quick, easy and yummy.
The girls had a bath after dinner, and then they each ate a little bowl of plain white rice as their post-bath snack. But then at bedtime, Addie was still hungry, and took a giant burrito-sized tortilla to bed with her.
I actually fell asleep tucked into the other corner of Emmie’s bed tonight for about 15 minutes, after going through her normal routine with her.
Now, Jeff and I are working to get our own clothes packed up tonight, so that tomorrow can be reserved for all the other night-before-vacay-hoopla that will inevitably need to be taken care of…
