7-Layer Salad

Our whole day was spent with family, and we had such a goo day! My Addie Pie woke me up at 6am, so I baked croissants, and baked bacon, and boiled eggs, and washed some dishes. Emmie woke up by 7am, and I woke up Jeff at 7:30, and all of that stuff was done by 8:30.

Then we all cleaned the living room, and got dressed and packed up to head out for the day, by 9:15am.

We had to make a super fast run through Walmart, where Emmie and I picked up our three remaining 7-layer salad ingredients, and Jeff and Addie returned a couple things we got a month or so back that we didn’t actually need.

Then we went out to Grammy’s house for Papa’s birthday celebration. Everyone else immediately got into the swimming pool, but I took about 20-ish minutes to put together my 7-layer salad first. This was my first time making one of these, but it was so easy and had so many of my favorite things, and it was delicious, and so pretty! You can’t actually see all the layers (I wasn’t that particular about trying to do that), but it still looks nice and tasted great.
Then we spent a couple of hours swimming in the pool and having a great time.

Then we had a delicious lunch. Grandmommie made crock pot BBQ meatballs, and a triple recipe of stick-of-butter rice, Bo made fresh white acre peas, and we had my salad, and it was all very good.

Giant cuddle pile after lunch, before Papa opened up his presents, and then we followed all that up with cake and ice cream.

Meg, Bo and the triplets went home for their naps, but we stayed. Emmie hung out with Grandmommie, and Addie and I napped in Grammy’s recovery-recliner-room in the back with her.

Emmie was clearly tired though, because on our way between Grammy’s house and Nana’s house, my big girl fell asleep in the car.

We had another delicious meal at Nana & PopPop’s house, of meatloaf & mashed potatoes. We had lots of time to just play and hang out together afterwords, swinging outside for a short time, but it was too hot, so we played some Domino’s instead, and Emerson beat both me & Nana, again!

We had some snuggle time watching Bluey for a little bit with Nana, while Jeff helped PopPop with some computer stuff. Then we headed on home and immediately started bedtime, and both girls were very sleepy, after such a big day.

The last couple of nights, Addie wants to be held just a little bit, and then she wants to walk herself to her bedroom, and have me follow behind, to lift her into her crib. Then she just lays down and cuddles a little stuffy, and waits for me to cover her up with her favorite blankie. Then she just falls asleep on her own! It’s very sweet, but she’s just growing up so much, and it’s too much!

Loved spending so much time with our families today, having good talks and good food and lots of hugs and loves. Feeling happy tonight 🙂
