Pot Roast, Potatoes & Carrots

So we had to update my website/blog last night, and it took forever, and required additional maintenance from my personal IT professional, Jeff. So I took the night off, and planned to just write two posts today. So this first one is Thursday’s update…Emmie and Nana went on another morning nature walk, and collected all sorts of good things to bring back and show me.

Inserting a video here of her walking and pushing her stroller, and hopefully it uploads correctly!

They did some playing in her room after their walk, and Emmie cooked in her kitchen, and then performed heart surgery on her giant chick. Which is incredible, but also broke my heart a little bit, but also impressed me, because she was so chill about it. It’s strange to try to think about whole this journey will effect her as she grows up, but playtime like this makes it seem like she actually coping with it really well. She also told us yesterday she wants to be a doctor when she grows up, which is the first time she’s made any kind of statement like that, and I said, “Great, you can pay for Mommy & Daddy’s retirement someday!” 😆

Nana told me she had a very eclectic lunch, of pot stickers, banana, 1/4 of a PB&J, some Cheetos, and something else I forgot….

On my lunch break, I got to read her nap time books and get her down for her nap, and I got lots of good snuggles and loves and hugs and kisses before laying her in the bed.

She had a good nap, and woke up ready to do more playing with Nana. They did some more chalk outside, and switched to Play-Doh inside once they were just melting from the heat.

I signed off my laptop a few minutes after 5pm, and got to sit down and chat and snuggle with Emmie for a little while, while she cuddled and loved on Pretzel.

Then Aunt Suzanne & Uncle Keith stopped by really quick to bring us dinner! Emerson of course had to show off her new big girl bed, and a few other things as well, but then they headed out and insisted there wasn’t enough food for them too, when I offered for them to stay & eat the food they brought with us.

But they clearly brought enough food for a family of 10! Butter beans, pot roast, potatoes, carrots, deviled eggs, rolls, and cheese noodles & dino nugs specifically for Emerson. And they even brought us fancy Nothing Bundt Cake tiny cupcakes. Everything was delicious, and it was so nice to enjoy a hot, home-cooked meal, that I didn’t cook or even have to clean up, since we used paper plates & plastic forks!

Have you ever met a 3-year-old who loves deviled eggs and egg salad as much as this little goofball? I certainly haven’t!

She had a really fun bath after dinner. She got to use one of the bath bombs from Aunt Meggie & Uncle Bo for the first time, and found a teeny tiny yellow dinosaur in it once it stopped fizzing! She chose the yellow bath bomb last night, and although it was cool, it was also really strange seeing her sitting here in a tub of yellow water! 😉 We also changed her bandage on the drainage hole again last night, and it’s still healing up really well.

She chose to wear her little corn jammies again, and despite the fact they’re super wrinkled, they still look super cute on her. (I am not the kind of girl who irons, well, pretty much anything ever, but definitely not jammies.)

As usual, bedtime was difficult (she’s killing me with bedtime stuff lately), but after tag-team efforts for at least an hour, she finally surrendered to sleep.

And then I was happier than ever to help myself to a delicious little white chocolate raspberry cupcake for dessert!

I’ll be posting another blog post later tonight for today’s activities…
