Winter Accessories

Jeff got up early with Emmie today around 6:15am, and let me sleep in till about 7:30. I still got some snuggle time with Emmie before having to get dressed for church, and she was so sweet, having a snack with her baby doll set up beside her on the couch.

We got some bacon, egg & cheese croissants from Dunkin on the way to church for Jeff and I, and some chocolate munchkins for Little Bit, but turns out, she just wanted the sandwich! So of course we shared with her.

And wow look at this cuteness! I picked out her pretty little snowman dress from Nana, but she picked out her winter accessories, and there was no talking her out of them! I tried to tell her it wasn’t that cold and it didn’t really match, but she was adamant, and that battle just wasn’t worth it!

After lunch, we went out to lunch with Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Keith, at El Jalisco. Literally all four of us adults ordered the chicken quesadilla lunch special, and Emmie had some absolutely delicious chicken fingers, plus LOTS of chips & queso. Lunch was yummy, and we had a nice time with family!

It was tough to get Emmie down for her nap after lunch, but although it took a while, we did eventually get her down. Jeff and I watched a few videos on YouTube, and then I fell asleep and napped on the couch myself. Emmie slept for about two hours, and once she woke up, we went over to Grammy, Papa & Grandmommie’s house, to hang out and have dinner with them. Emmie also got to decorate her cute little felt tree. She did it all by herself, and she did such a good job! (Although, I did remove & hide the hideous orange gingerbread one, because I just couldn’t stand it. 😉 )

A few years ago, Papa saw an episode of Diners, Drive-In’s & Dives on Food Network where they made waffles out of dressing, then topped them with turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, and cranberry sauce. He’s wanted to try it ever since he saw it, and tonight, he finally did! They made fresh dressing & potatoes, and used some of the last bits of of Thanksgiving turkey they had frozen.

I was having a pregnancy aversion to Thanksgiving food (although it kinda smelled good and looked good), so instead, I had a tuna sandwich with pickled sweet cherry peppers on this swirl bread, and it was soooo good. But then I tried one bite of Papa’s plate, and it was actually delicious, so I ended up having a tiny bit of it after I finished my sammich.

We had some good play time after dinner, and then got Emmie changed into her nightgown for the ride home. She gave hugs and loves to everyone, and then talked Grandmommie into letting her use two flashlights to walk out to the car.

She got herself all worked up and sweaty in her flannel nightgown, so she changed into something cooler, and we went through the whole bedtime routine. While she was hugging on Daddy, she told him, “I love you because you’re great and strong.” UGH! It was out of nowhere, and so stinking sweet! Then she came over and loved on me, and said, “I love you because you’re lovely and smart.” I almost died at the sweetness.

But once again, didn’t want to sleep and was very whiny and needy and wouldn’t let us leave her room. She kept calling us back and making a big deal about everything. I get really frustrated in that situation and can only take so much, but luckily Jeff is very patient in that area, so he ended up just sitting in the floor next to her bed for like 20 minutes, holding her hand, until she finally fell asleep and he could sneak out of her room.

Meanwhile, I lit a candle (that I can barely even smell? ugh…), and made us both a cup of hot tea (I’m still on my peach kick, as you can kinda see), and got started on this post while watching “Dawson’s Creek.” She’s sound asleep and silent now, so I’m hoping and praying she stays asleep and gets a good night’s rest!

We’re going to watch some of our favorite YouTubers, and then head off to bed to get some rest before another week…
