White & Green

Today was “wear green to school day!” It had been a while since she last wore this little white & green checked dress though, and ended up being shorter than I realized it was going to be. But she still looks cute 🙂

More painting for Emmie at school today, and more anxiety for Mama just looking at all that paint everywhere, and not a smock in sight! BUT! Y’all know they’ve been working on potty training a lot at school these past couple weeks, and every day there are multiple entries in our parent portal that say she sat on the potty but didn’t use it… Today, it said she actually went pee-pee on the potty for the first time! I’m so proud of her!!!

On a random note, I’ve finished three of the six short stories in the “Forward” collection from Amazon that I shared last week, and have really liked the first three. (There’s actually no real “sequence” they must be read in, but I just been going in the order they’re listed on Amazon & Goodreads.) I’ve on started the fourth one (still doing a tandem read & listen whenever I get a few spare minutes here & there), which is written by Amor Towels & read by David Harbour (aka Chief Hopper/Hop from Stranger Things), and I’m excited about listening to him narrate this one! (Coincidental side note – the “third” one is narrated by Jason Isaacs, who is Lucious Malfoy in all the Harry Potter movies, and also one of the main characters in the Netflix show we’re currently watching, The OA.)

Grammy picked up Emerson from school in the Jeep, and we met for family dinner before church at Hopkins – my favorite local sandwich shop! There are lots of sammies of theirs I really like, but today I got The Saute (hold the tomato), and their minty sweet tea, which I’m obsessed with and could drink a gallon of.

“Unca Keef” surprised Emerson with this pair of sunglasses, and she was so excited about them! They were also perfect for today, since they matched her white and green dress to a T! Even Uncle Keith was wearing white & green today!

As my parents moved last week and are going through all their stuff, Grandmommie came across some old photos today! These two are from one of the times my Granddaddy took my cousin Aaron fishing, and me and my sister had been playing dress-up with Grandmommie’s dresses (and look closely for the lipstick!). I think this was around when I was about 8 years old, making Megan and Aaron about 5 years old. I love these photos, but it makes me miss my Granddaddy so very much!

We got to church super early tonight, so Emmie and I went on a “long” walk around the buildings, just wandering around killing time.

We had another great night of worship choir rehearsal, followed by SCT rehearsal, with lots of people continuing to show up. (We were afraid some of the brand new people would drop out after just one rehearsal, thinking, “what have I gotten myself into?!” haha) This is currently one of my top three favorite songs of the SCT – it’s a beautiful song, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s written & recorded by one of my favorite female Christian singers, Francesca Battistelli.

We had to stop for gas on the way home, so by the time we got home, got Emerson another snack & drink of ice water, and in her nightgown ready for bed, it was about an hour later than her “usual” bedtime. Wednesdays are always long and late, but she was still just as sweet as always. She did however require a but mke “convincing” (e.g. – back scratches and singing “Jesus Loves Me”) before I could actually lay her down and leave the room.

I’m already feeling super sleepy tonight, so I’m just hoping I can make it through one episode on Netflix before falling asleep on on the couch.
