White Cheddar Mac

Early this morning, Megan texted me saying I should put Emerson in her “cousin crew” shirt for camp today, along with the triplets. So I found hers, and I also found Addison’s, and we sent off 2/6-ths of the cousin crew to daycare and summer camp today!

And the trippies wore their cousin crew shirts to East Hill too (oh yeah, forgot to mention yesterday that they started there too, so the four big girls are all at camp together this summer), but Hayden was left out of the cousin crew t-shirt plan today on accident. But everyone was so cute and happy and excited for the day!

After work, I rushed to pick up Emerson from camp, had a snack waiting for her in the car, and we rushed to Trousdell for the first day of the summer gymnastics session. It’s a short, compacted session, so instead of two, one-hour classes a week for 3.5 months, she’s doing two, 1.5-hour classes a week, for just two months.

So I had a nice long time to read my Kindle book, while watching Emmie at class. I’m currently reading “People We Meet On Vacation,” by Emily Henry, for my book club, and loving it. I think this was one of her first, but I never read this one, even though I’ve read every single one since then. But this one is really, really good too!

Meanwhile, Jeff picked up Addison from school, and they went to Publix to pick up his prescription antibiotics, because he went to Urgent Care today and found out he has a middle-ear infection. (I was like, wait, who gets ear infections as an adult?! Apparently he does!) But the meds weren’t ready yet, so they had to wait, and they ended up just getting popcorn chicken and mac & cheese and having dinner there while waiting, since Emmie and I were still at the gym.

And then since they had already eaten, Emmie and I stopped for dinner on our way home. I had seen a video from a girl raving about the limited time mac & cheese at Arby’s, and knew Emmie would like it. Then as we pulled up to the ordering menu, they had a huge ad for their new orange cream shake, and she said, “Can I have that milkshake as a treat for working so hard in gym tonight?!” And I couldn’t tell her no, because she really DID work so hard tonight! And everything really was delicious! So ironically, we ended up with mac & cheese from two places today, but Arby’s was the clear winner.

I am always telling people IRL (in real life) about all the crazy things we find Pennie eating and chewing on that she finds in our backyard. She even has her own little pile of random junk and wood that she’s collected. Tonight, I finally got a picture of her through the sliding glass door of her bringing this giant piece of wood up to show off. That’s what we say, that she brings us her spoils to show off, before taking it off to her pile of goodies.

Emerson was particularly exhausted again tonight after a full day at summer camp, followed by a long gym class, so she was more than ready for bedtime. Addison was also tired from walking all over Publix with Jeff, and she was ready to cuddle up and get to sleep too. I already washed Emerson’s bento box earlier right after we ate dinner, so now I can just sit down and relax the rest of the night!
