What’s a Grilled Cheese?

Today was my turn on the Sunday school rotation in Emerson’s VPK classroom. We learned about the letter Paul wrote to Timothy for encouragement, so we made some cards to give to others for encouragement as well.

Then all the VBS kids did a couple of the songs from last week to open the worship service, and it was adorable and so fun.

Lunch with the family at Echalee after church, and Emerson did the “Church Clap” dance right there in the middle of the restaurant. She was dancing so hard, she lost a shoe, and just kept dancing! One of our church family’s (which includes my co-teacher in Sunday school this morning), and our next-door neighbors were also seat right next to us, so she was entertainment for the whole area 🙂

Emmie went to sleep at home for nap super easily, but Addie fought it for a while. She finally gave up after daddy rubbed her belly with her laying like this. So Jeff laid her down, and then we also laid down for nap. Emmie slept from 2-4:30, I slept from 2:30-4:30, and Jeff and Addie slept from 2:30-6pm, when I woke them both up!

Emmie and I tried to work on the puzzle a bit, but goodness gracious this one is gonna be a tough one, with all that grass & sky. I did put together a few of the butterflies, and attempted to separate the sky pieces, but that’s as much progress as we made.

We pulled out one of her art kit buckets and did a couple of small craft projects and coloring, she pretended like these dowels were chopsticks and picked up the piece of confetti-paper stuff acting like it was noodles.

Once we finally woke up Jeff and Addie, we had just a few minutes of playtime, and then I made some mozzarella grilled cheese sandwiches, warmed up some marinara, and put together a Caesar salad bag kit. (This whole meal was at the suggestion of my friend Jenifer at church, who I sing with on praise team, so thanks for suggesting this to me, last summer actually!)

When I told Emmie this afternoon I was making grilled cheese for dinner, she was like, “What’s that?” I was like, “EXCUSE ME? What do you mean? How do you know know?” She was still like, “Yeah, what’s grilled cheese?” So I said it’s a toasted sandwich from the skillet, and she still didn’t get it. So I showed her pictures on Google, and she was still not so sure… So in the kitchen she came over and was like, “OK lemme see this…. oh… yeah okay…” But then she ate the whole thing! What a goofball 🙂

Dinner was followed by our usual playtime activities, and a little bit of cleaning up, and some rest and tv time to calm down at the end of the night.

Both girls fought sleep just a little bit tonight, but it wasn’t too bad, and they’re both sound asleep now. Jeff was going to work on washing some of the dishes while I wrote this blog, then I’ll go finish everything up. Once we get all that taken care, we’re going to watch another episode of “Stranger Things.” It takes us so long to watch it because I always fall asleep on the couch, so we still have two episodes left in this current “chapter” of this season.
