I made us some egg sandwiches for breakfast at home this morning, then we made our to-do list of errands and things for the day, got dressed and headed out. First stop was The Frother’s Daughter new brick & mortar store.
Jeff and Addie wandered around outside since the tiny shop was full and busy, and Emmie waited inside with me.
I really “needed” to try the Boo-klava Brew (special only for this weekend), which was pistachio & honey flavored, inspired by baklava for the Greek fest this weekend, and it was super good. Jeff got the Froth-enstein (from their October specials), which I was skeptical of with the apple flavoring, but it was strangely so good and also chocolatey.
Next up on the agenda was the courthouse downtown, so we could do the early voting. We found a free parallel parking spot a block away, and when we walked in we were literally the only people there. So we were in & out in like 3 minutes today, super easy peasy!
We got the cute little packets for the future voters, and Emerson was all into it, and couldn’t wait to crack it open to read while walking back to the car.
Then they were both very into it on the car ride.
Our third stop was actually back to the consignment shop Kids Pointe, but I didn’t take any pics there. We were too busy digging through all the good stuff. We had to return a pair of too-small sandals that I got for Addie the other day (I wasn’t sure which size she needed), but then we also found her a few more pairs, and a Baby Yoda Christmas dress for Emmie, and a couple of books too.
Stop number four was lunch at one of our faves, Thai Kitchen Cuisine in the corner of the Home Goods shopping center, for a lunch-sized bowl of their delicious “Chicken Noodle Bowl.” Mmmm it was delicious. Jeff got the same thing, but neither of us finished, so we brought some home and Jeff ate it again for dinner and said it was still just as good. The girls shared a chicken teriyaki plate and ate every little bit of chicken, and we even got Addie to eat some mushrooms!
Then onto the fifth stop on the errands tour was to the Dollar Tree for a couple random bits and bobs.
We finally headed back home so our grumpy toddler girl could take a nap. She started falling asleep in the car on the way home, but we wouldn’t let her. But then once we got home, she was mad and angry about having to nap, and fought me about it very hard for like 30-40 minutes. After all that, I needed to lie down on the couch for a rest myself, to recover from all the turmoil.
Jeff picked up a small grocery order for us, which was mostly just coffee creamer and those water mix-in packets we love so much, plus deodorant for me. So then I made myself another iced coffee, and Emmie and I went back out in the world for some more shopping & thrifting.
At Goodwill, we got Emmie a pair of too-big overalls for her to save & grow into, plus a dress, shirt & a flannel for “Western” day at school next week. And of course she found a cute little Madeline book, which she immediately started reading in the car.
We also went to Bealls Outlet, because she already needed a new pair of tennis shoes, even though we just got her a new pair at the beginning of the school year. She tried on like 15 pairs of shoes, but she did eventually pick out a pair of tennis shoes and some new little ankle boots for the fall/winter.
It was after 5pm by the time her and I got back home, but we woke up Addie girl and just had a really calm chill night. We had spent enough money out on the town today, so we had a hodge podge of leftovers and random things for everyone’s dinner tonight. For my dinner, I used leftovers from Thursday’s dinner and I had a cold pork sandwich with mayo, which is one of those simple nostalgic things that reminds me of growing up, but specially my Granddaddy.
I had also made some roasted garlic tonight, with two full heads of garlic. I made garlic mayo with one of them, and then just ate the other one with my sandwich, which I know seems so wild and “unhinged” as the kids say, but was so stinking yummy. Also had my favorite blackberry lemonade water mix-in for the first time in a couple of weeks, and slurped that thing down SO fast.
I got the girls in the bath tub and let them play for quite a while, before getting them dried off and dressed in their jammies and ready for bed. As usual, Emerson was so easy to get to sleep, but Addison was just wide awake and wanting to watch travel YouTube vlogs. I think she’s asleep now though, luckily, or at least I hope so, since it’s almost 10pm by this point. I’m gonna watch some Netflix now though and re-do my fingernails.
OK one more note before I go – apparently some bots tried to do some weird stuff to my website, and we had like 32,000 robot subscribers, which was causing strange problems. Jeff has spent the last 3 days taking care of that, removing them all and locking down the security and such. If you were an email subscriber before, you might need to re-subscribe, which he has made very easy to do, right on the home page of my website, with a cute little box on the top right hand side right under the picture of me. And if you hadn’t subscribed before, now would be a great time to sign up, and you’ll get an email to your inbox every time I post! 🙂
