Voting Lunch Date

Two adorable little girls, wearing cute little dresses. Please also make sure to notice Addie’s wild hair today! That is the result of Jeff liking the wild curls after bath time last night and deciding not to brush it, and then not being able to take it this morning after she woke up 🙂

After working for a couple of house, Jeff and I met up at Mission San Luis, which is our beautiful polling place, since we live right behind it. We voted together (why were those amendments so confusing!?), and then went out on a rare lunch date together, at our favorite, nearest restaurant, El Rincon Latino.

They have great lunch specials – I got the Pollo Encebollado (which is my usual order there), and Jeff got the Chicken Godzilla (which he’s had once before), and everything was so delicious.

Oh we also bought a bag of this Columbian coffee they sell there, so that’ll be yummy to try for our at-home coffee this week.

Addie Pie had a good day at school, playing with her friends and teachers.

For dinner tonight, I made Asian chicken lettuce wraps, with jasmine rice and broccoli. I made this for the first time when I had gestational diabetes since it’s low-carb (but with the smallest portion of brown rice), and I’ve made it probably once a month for the past year and a half, and we all love it.

After dinner, I was washing up dishes, and Jeff was working on some chores, like taking out this empty diaper box to the recycling, with some help from a little stowaway. (Please notice the sock on her hand again; she’s so obsessed with doing this lately.)

I mentioned last week that my parents brought back a little gift bag of goodies after their vacation. In addition to the Christmas kitchen towels Jeff already put away for me, it also included a bag of Black Rifle Co coffee, and goodies from the Bush’s factory they visited.

Emmie and I played a fun little game on her tablet, cuddled up on the couch for a long while, until it was finally time for us to get both girls to sleep. Emmie was so sweet and lovey, and Addie was asleep super quickly. But I just had to scoop her up from Jeff and just hold her for about 20 minutes myself, because I was in need of some baby-induced serotonin.

I’m currently taking a break in between seasons of “Survivor,” watching “From Scratch” on Netflix. It’s based off a book I read and loved 3 or 4 years ago, and I’ve heard rave reviews of the show too. I’m about halfway through the season now, and it’s just now getting to the rough stuff… I know there’s a lot of emotional turmoil to come, but it’s been really good.

Heading to my spot on the couch now, to just sit and relax for a bit (and eventually falling asleep on the couch) before making it to the bed later…
