Baby sister was staring down at the orange danishes and cinnamon rolls oh-so-longingly this morning. Before she climbed up here, she had come running over to me and said something like, “You’re such a good mommy making breakfast!”
And then after breakfast, I wasn’t feeling great (got another cold again), so I accidentally fell asleep on the couch for like 2-2.5 hours after we ate. By the time I woke up again, the girls were hungry and ready for lunch. We found the last of the leftovers from this past week for Jeff and I, and the girls just wanted some easy mac cups.
Jeff and Addie stayed home for nap time after lunch, but Emmie and I had some errands to run. Yesterday, I got a Polar Espresso from the Frother’s Daughter, but today I made my own iced peppermint mocha in my cute Frother’s Daughter glass. And my mini-me had a blackberry lemonade water in my giant tumbler.
We ran into the Lake Jackson library to return the Boxcar Children book we finished a couple of nights ago. And I told her we had a fun book on hold to pick up. She was excited to see the new Taylor Swift book with our name on the hold slip! I figured as beautiful as the book is, I’d check it out from the library for free for a few weeks, rather than spending $40 on it…
She felt the need to sit down in the floor and open it up right away. I assured her we could look at it at home though, and she didn’t have to look at the whole thing now.
Back at home, these cuties were very snuggly together. After Jeff got her to sleep in our bed, he tucked her in tight, and he did some laundry while Emmie and I were still out and about running errands and doing a little Christmas shopping.
Emmie and I also picked up our grocery order before we came back home. Then Jeff helped us unload everything from the car, and we got all the food put away in the fridge, freezer and cabinets. Jeff had picked one orange to test while we were gone this afternoon, juiced it, and said it was delicious. So we went out to pick some more before dinner.
We picked about 15 oranges, and Jeff juiced them all by hand, to make me a jar of fresh-squeezed orange juice, hoping that a bunch of very fresh vitamin C could help me start feeling better.
Earlier this afternoon, Nana came by the house for a quick little 20-minute visit, to bring us homemade chili and the toppings, so that we could have some homemade soup, without me having to make it, since I wasn’t feeling great. So I left it simmering on the stove for a little while, and then all I had to do was scoop it up for dinner, which was super nice. Thank you, Nana!!
After dinner, we got the girls dressed in their jammies, and we set out on a little adventure to visit the Allison Christmas Spectacular, to watch the Christmas lights show! We always love driving through here every year, watching the lights synced up to the music on their dedicated radio channel. Emmie has been asking me for weeks, “When can we go see the Allison lights?” So she was so excited to go tonight!
When we got home, we needed some hot tea to warm up, and to help soothe my throat a little bit.
Both girls were very tired by the time we got going on bedtime, around 9pm. Emmie was sound asleep in just a few minutes once I took her to her room, and Addie flopped around a bit, but eventually gave in and fell asleep too. I’m gonna keep watching a little Christmas movie now, and re-do my fingernails, probably in festive red & green for the upcoming Christmas week!
