OK, first of all, this kid is just the cutest, sweetest little thing. And she’s such a happy camper in the mornings!
And then she got even happier, when she saw her favorite Ms. Q walking up!
And RAN to give her a big hug!
And we had to stop for muffins, of course…
For lunch today, I walked the 2.5 blocks over to the Larson Building, to eat Thanksgiving lunch in their cafeteria! Jeff works in the building next door, so him & his work buddies eat here often. (Even when I pack his lunch, he still takes it next door to eat there with them.) So yesterday, he told me they were having Thanksgiving turkey with all the sides & fixin’s, and asked me to join them. And I thought that sounded delicious! Plus, this is also the building where Megan works, so she brought her own lunch, and met us down there too! Yummy food (so much I couldn’t eat it all), good company, and a nice walk in the not-quite-as-burning-hot weather (although it was still quite warm), makes for a good lunch break! (I also started a new audio book on my walk over.)
I forgot to share the photo’s of Emmie from school yesterday, so here are a few from yesterday, followed by one from today. (Also, just looking at all that paint in these photos gives me anxiety about her getting paint all over the place!)
And look at this teeny 11-week-old peanut from two years ago!
After work, Aunt Suzanne hitched a ride with me. Her car is in the shop, and Uncle Keith had a Christian golf club event thingy, so we gave her a lift home! She was excited to go in and pick up Emerson with me, and Emmie was surprised to see her there! (Forgot to take a photo…)
After dropping her off at her house, it was a little later than usual, and I didn’t want cooking dinner to be pure chaos, so Jeff picked up food for us on his way home. He had a coupon for BOGO Whataburger’s, so he grabbed two of those, and a small burger for Emmie, plus some fries & onion rings (he’s obsessed with their onion rings) to share, and we had a take-out feast at home!
Dinner was followed by some time spent just hanging out in the front yard, sitting in the grass, eating tiny pumpkin ice cream cones.
After that, we had a quick video phone call with Grammy and Grandmommie, then bath time for Emerson. And she had so much fun in the bath tonight! She was laying down on her tummy, kicking her legs around and splashing, and saying she was swimming. She hasn’t done stuff like this in the bath for about six months now (y’all remember all that hoopla & trauma we went through?!), and it was so cute, and so refreshing tonight! She was happy and playing, and I couldn’t stop laughing at her being so silly, and it was just great!
After getting dressed, and giving Pretzel some hugs, we did bedtime books. She tried some of her old stall tactics tonight, and we gave into about half of them, because it’s easier to just give her one more drink of milk than to fight over it. We said prayers, and lullabies (had to repeat the last one twice because she wasn’t ready yet), and then she sweetly laid down in her crib.
There were no dishes to wash, but we did spend some time putting away all the clean laundry Jeff has folded over the past couple of days, and tidied up around the living room & dining room. Then we finally settled down on the couch to watch another episode of “The OA” on Netflix.
