The Tiniest First Ponytail

My beautiful, sweet girls, happy again this morning.

Addison had herself quite a big day at school today – fun on the slide, and her first tiny ponytail!!! She looks like the tiniest baby Pebbles!

I picked up both girls early today, and drove out to Epiphany in Killearn Lakes, for Emerson’s ballet recital dress rehearsal. One of Emmie’s friends’ moms took her inside with her, so that I could sit in the car and let this tired baby girl take a little nap during the rehearsal, and I finished a book on my Kindle. (I actually finished a different Kindle book on Monday, which was an incredible, epic fantasy, second in the series. And then this one I finished today was short & sweet & cute, and I finished it in three days.)

I let Addie sleep for about 30 minutes, and then I went inside to watch the last bit of rehearsal, but they were all done, and just taking their big group photo all together. Can’t wait for their cute recital tomorrow night!

We headed on home, and got back home about the same time as always. So while I was cooking dinner, Emerson volunteered to put all the cleaning products back under the kitchen sink for me, since we hadn’t done that after getting it fixed last week. I told her, “Thank you, Emmie, you’re doing such a good job at that.” And she responded, “It’s just so easy, Mommy, and so I’m good at it.”

This is the recipe I usually make for Asian lettuce wraps (which I now just actually just throw together from the top of my head without an actual recipe), but I was all out of lettuce. So we just did rice bowls with broccoli instead, and I loved how it turned out. SO super delicious.

Everyone else loved this meal tonight too, and Addison was SO covered in rice. She was such a mess (we forgot her little bib with the pocket), so we took her outside just to undress her, so that we could leave all the rice on the back patio, instead of the dining room rug.

Then we just let her wander around for the rest of the night wearing just her diaper, and her tiny ponytail, and she was so cute walking around the whole house like that.

We had lots of playtime after dinner, and then we got the girls ready for bedtime. Jeff fed Addison a bottle of cold milk (she’s starting to kinda like it now, she wasn’t so sure about it the first couple of days), while I went through Emmie’s bedtime routine with her.

I held Addie for a little while, and Jeff and Emmie had some pre-bedtime cuddles, and then I laid Addie down in her bed once she was really sound asleep.

I’m going to spend a little bit of time washing up the dishes, but there’s not too much, so hopefully it will go quickly. Jeff is probably going to bed early, so I think I’ll watch an episode of Survivor, and then head to bed.
