The Stomach Bug Strikes Back

Addison woke up in the best mood today, acting so silly and goofy and happy.

Emerson on the other hand, woke up at 5:45 saying her stomach hurt, so we gave her a children’s Pepto, but then 20 minutes later she threw up. And then again another 30 minutes after that. So Jeff took Addie to school today, and I stayed home with Emmie. Then she had a few trips to the toilet during the day as well. Despite that though, she was fine most of the day, and by 3pm, she was totally and completely bored, and more than ready to go back to school tomorrow. (We’re thinking this is a delayed copycat of what Addie had at the end of last week, that she was over so quickly.)

We each colored on picture, then she wanted to tape them together and hang them on the wall in the hallway between hers and Addie’s doors. So why the heck not, right?!

Then we did another little art project that I saw in an Instagram video, and that was fun. We actually both did this three or four times, with different colors and techniques, and had a good time coloring and listening to the Charlotte’s Web audio book together.

Then this family tree project was completely her idea, and she literally did the whole thing by herself, other than me helping her spell just a few things. I thought this was so precious, and I was so impressed with this!

She skipped breakfast because she didn’t want to eat (so I just drank a protein shake because I didn’t want to cook & eat in front of her), then by 11:30 she was starving, so she had applesauce, and I made her white rice and two pieces of buttered toast, and she ate every bite. (And I just ate the other half of the rice I made.) Then by 2:30 she was starving again, and wanted a couple more pieces of toast. And by that point, she was pretty much back to her normal self. So she watched some tv while I washed up a ton of dishes.

Looks like Addie Pie had a good day at school.

By late afternoon, it was pouring rain outside, and she was so bored of all the options I kept giving her of things to do, so she ended up taking a nice long soak in the bath tub with a bath bomb, and a show on her Kindle Fire tablet. Meanwhile, I was reading on my own Kindle Paperwhite in the living room, with a nice coffeehouse candle burning by a cozy lamp, listening to the rain outside. (I didn’t finish the Hunger Games audio book last week before my loan ended, so I’m finishing book one by reading the Kindle version, because the library hold on the audio will take another month to get back, and I’m almost done and can finish it in another 30 minutes or so, after catching up some today.)

After getting Emmie out of the bath tub, and dressed in her silky nightgown again, then she stayed home while I went out to pick up Addison from school. When I got home, Ryan took care of Addie for me, so that I could get this cheesy chicken & rice casserole into the oven to bake for dinner. And this came out looking perrrrrfect. Some times it just comes out better than others, and this was one of those times tonight. It was so. good.

Jeff was back out in the carport after dinner working on his car some more (after having lots of issues, and calling his usual Volvo repair shop to talk through it with the guys there, and going there to pick up some parts to test), so we all went outside to wander around the carport and driveway while he worked.

Then the girls and I had just a little bit of time to play together and get them a little bit more tired out, before starting on their bedtime routines.

After about 2.5 pages in our book, Emerson fell asleep while I was still reading out loud to her, so clearly her bedtime was easy peasy.

Addison was a little more difficult, because she actually only wanted Mommy, when usually she’s such a Daddy’s girl, so she screamed for the 5-8 minutes I was reading to Emmie, until I came back and held her. Then she fell asleep quickly at that point, but she was uncharacteristically in need of me tonight. I did get her laid down in her bed though, and Emmie too, so now both girls are sweetly snoozing away, and I’ve got a new candle burning, and it smells great.

The only dirty dishes are the plates & forks from tonight, plus the casserole dish, and I asked Ryan to handle those during the day tomorrow. I’m not sure what Jeff and Ryan are up to right now, but depending on what they’re watching, I might just read and finish up my Hunger Games book #1, because then I want to watch the movie before I start listening to the next audio book in the series.

Also, here’s our one second everyday video for March!
