The Not-So-Express Lunch

This teeny tiny fashionista wore another new outfit to school today! And good grief! Would you check out those legs in those little shorty-shorts!? So cute!

My bureau chief ordered this last week, for a little snack area she’s creating for us. This morning, I found the sign sitting on my desk, because she wanted ME to be the one to put it up. So I recruited my friend Heather, and we worked on it together. But dang that thing was trickier than we expected! It came with instructions, but they were a little unclear, so we also looked up a YouTube video tutorial. After about 30 minutes, and lots of work, we finally got it up. The old door frame that was closed up caused us a few issues, and we know it’s a teeny bit crooked, but it can’t be redone, so we’re just gonna ignore that & move on!

The ladies in my family all joined together to have another workin’ girls’ lunch, like we did a while back. We had wanted Grandmommie to join us today too, but her social calendar was already full, so we missed having her there. Lunch was delicious, once it finally came! We all ordered meals from the “express lunch” menu, but it took 40 minutes for our food to come out! We told the waitress we were on our lunch hour, we asked her twice why it was taking so long, and yet still, it had been 40+ minutes from the time we ordered until our food finally arrived. We’ve never had it take so long there, so we’re not sure what the deal was. Then when the bill came, Megan’s gluten free chicken teriyaki meal rang up for $18, when the menu said $8. So we made sure to get that fixed, and we boxed up our lunches and finally got out of there!

We did at least all enjoy our time together, it just took wayyy too long.

Anyways, Emerson had a good day at school…

I love seeing these photos of her all curled up for nap time, on her little cot, looking like such a big girl!

When we got home, Emerson didn’t want to let go of Mommy for even one second. So I gave Jeff all of the (super easy) dinner instructions, and the boys and I took Emmie for a stroller ride/walk. I was attempting to find some Harry Potter things, but my ingredients vault is full (don’t know how to use the stuff to empty it), and my spell energy was empty (don’t know how to replenish it), so I couldn’t actually even accomplish anything in the game. So we walked a little, then headed back home, because it was scorching hot and crazy humid.

We had bow tie noodles with meatballs, Caesar salad, and Texas cheese toast. Very simple, very yummy.

Today was a bath day for the tiny tot. Aunt Jane sound these little bath gloves and got them for Emmie, and she loved using them tonight!

It’s been a while since we’ve done a Mommy-Daughter selfie after bath, so here we are! (The scar on my chest I had that spot removed is more noticeable than ever now. Hoping it eventually goes away and isn’t bright red forever, or else what was the point?!)

She specifically requested a brownie for dessert, and wanted to sit on the couch.

After dessert, she did some minimal stalling, asking for bubba’s and water and hugs and Cheeze-it. I was able to keep it all short and brisk (and promise Cheeze-its for tomorrow), and after lullabies I was able to lay her down in her crib at 8pm on the dot!

Jeff has been washing dishes while I blogged, so we can finish watching “Oceans 11” tonight. (We can hardly ever make it through a full movie in only one night these days….) I’m still not feeling totally great (sinus pressure in my face and a scratchy throat), so I’m going to make a cup of hot tea for the third night in a row, and get a slice of the banana bread Nana sent home with us the other night.
