Every year to mark Dr. Seuss’s birthday, Growing Room does a week-long celebration with fun dress-up days and such. Today was silly hat day, and Emmie kept saying, “this is a beach hat!” But even wearing a silly hat, you still gotta have tea with your morning muffin 🙂
So I’d been meaning to, and wanting to, buy this magazine for a while, but kept forgetting. But I knew my favorites Ben & Erin Napier from HGTV’s Home Town were featured this month, and I wanted to check it out. And then lo & behold, I found it sitting around my office today (in a little book/magazine swap spot) for free! So while my lunch heated up in the microwave, I flipped through and started reading their article.
Our family trip to Missouri for my cousin Aaron’s wedding is coming up in a just a few weeks, in which Jeff, Emmie and I will stay in Laurel on the way back down to Florida, and I’m so stinking excited about it! We’re going to eat at Ms. Pearls’ diner, get treats at Sweet Somethings Bakery, shop at the Laurel Mercantile, and stay at the Laurel Cottages AirBnb (run by Erin’s best friend, Mallorie), and it’s gonna be so great!
I had leftover’s from last night for lunch today, and in case anyone wanted to make it and was wondering, the leftover’s heated up great and it was still super yummy.
But while I was at work today, Jeff went back to the doctor, because he was feeling absolutely horrible. I told y’all he took a long nap yesterday afternoon, but then later, after getting Emerson to down, he was feeling even worse. He was freezing and shivering, and usually he is always sweating and never, ever cold. So today he went in to get checked out, and for the second time this season, he tested positive for the flu, type A strain. He’s had both strains now. Isn’t that just outrageous? Especially since he DID get the flu shot!
He was also super dehydrated, so they gave him IV fluids before sending him home. Poor guy. When he was sick with the flu the first time back in December (with type B strain), Emerson and I kept our distance and were lucky enough to not get sick. So we’re going to pray we don’t get it this time either. Bring on all the Lysol, hand sanitizer and Emergen-C!
After work, Grammy picked up Emerson, and then went home to pick up Grandmommie, and then we wen to Aunt Suzanne’s house for dinner. Like I mentioned before, my cousin’s wedding is coming up in a few weeks, and Aunt Suzanne asked us to help plan the rehearsal dinner for them. So we had ourselves a little planning dinner meeting, along with our friend Janice from church, who is an amazing decorator/party-planner, who works for John Gandy events here in town. (She was also one of the sweet ladies that threw me the most beautiful baby shower for Emerson at her gorgeous house, back when I was pregnant.) Mom and I are also doing a small bridesmaids luncheon up there too, so we did some planning for that as well.)
Aunt Suzanne made Emerson dinosaur chicken nuggets & cheese noodles, and we had delicious chicken salad with fruit and a side salad. Grandmommie & Uncle Keith took care of and ate with Emerson, while the rest of us ladies did some planning.
This little chipmunk vibrates and hops around when you push a button, and she thought it was hilarious to put it up under her dress. 😆
Emmie actually wanted to stay there, but after getting changed into her nightgown, we hit the road and headed home. We had lots of talks on the way home about Daddy being sick, and we had to be careful not to get his germs. And then all on her own, she sweetly suggested we could blow him kisses. I told her that was good idea! She also said she wanted to pray for him, so I said that was great idea and we could do it in the car, but she said she wanted him to hear us and we needed to wait until we got home. What a precious, tender-hearted girl!
She couldn’t get her “goulash” open, and she was very frustrated with it. Luckily, Mommy so very good at opening chapstick.
She was super good and sweet at bedtime, and it was a breeze tonight. Praise the Lord for that!
After getting Emmie in bed, I grabbed a couple of Lysol wipes and went to town, wiping down every door handle, sink faucet, toilet flusher, counter-top, and anything else I thought might need it. We’re watching a movie now, while I work on a craft project, and then I’m sure we’ll go to bed early.
Please pray for Jeff to get well soon, and for Emerson and I to stay healthy!
