Thanksgiving 2023

Very thankful for this sweet family of mine. And very thankful for all the great family time we had together today!

My only small contribution to this year’s meal was this olive cheese bread. I made the same thing last year, and it was so good I wanted to make it again. We had my break and some bacon Brussels sprouts my Mama made for our lunch appetizer.

At one point this morning, there were 11 deer in the front yard! These three girls kept quiet enough to sit and watch them for a few minutes, and threw out a few pieces of corn for them.

Delicious, home-cooked, gigantic spread, as always!

After lunch, three of the parents took four of the girls to separate bedrooms to nap, and the rest of us “rested our eyes” on the couch in the living room. Meg, Bo & the trips headed out after a little more playtime, but we actually just stayed the whole day.

Addison dragged over this bird for the photo, so Emerson had to run go get a pumpkin for her prop.

Uncle Keith, Aunt Suzanne, Aaron & Asher came over late this afternoon, and we had turkey sandwiches and warmed up leftovers for dinner. Addie was absolutely fascinated with the second-hand ticking on Papa’s watch. He was trying to hypnotize her with it, and she was just really funny about it.

This big girl loves pumpkin pie. And if you look really closely, you’ll see that one remaining front tooth is about to fall out of her head.

So thankful for family and good food and time to spend just calm and chill and taking it easy. And thankful for 3 more days of this holiday weekend!
