Swingin’ Cowgirl

Growing Room was closed today, so I took the day off work to be with my girls all day. I hadn’t had my favorite egg-in-the-hole breakfast in quite a while, and it was callin’ my name this morning. Emmie said she wanted eggs & toast, but not my kind of eggs & toast. So she had toast with a side of scrambled eggs.

While she was eating, she said, “YUM! I just want to keep it in my mouth forever. Cuz it’s so yummy!”

We hung around the house and were lazy for a bit, then the girls and I ran to Walmart. I wanted to find some new, matching stockings for all six of us from the Christmas clearance stuff. (The four green matching ones we have are from our first year of marriage in 2013, and they’re just Dollar Tree ones, and Emmie’s is from school one year, and we don’t have one for Addie yet at all…) But there was not even one stocking to be found! We did however get some other Christmas clearance stuff though, so it wasn’t a total bust.

Also, she picked out her own outfit today, and kept referring to her top as “noodle straps.”

I fixed Emerson a turkey sandwich and apple slices for lunch when we got back, and then fixed Addison a bottle of milk for her lunch. Addie slept about 30 minutes in her crib after that, and Emmie slept about 1.5 hours. I ended up holding Addie in the rocker, getting her to sleep, and holding her for another 45 minutes.

Jeff had gone into his actual, physical office today, and he got home a little after this precious girl woke up. He wanted to get in some cuddle times on his lunch break, and she was so happy to just hang out with him, as happy as a little clam!

Look how adorable she was today in this little hand-me-down cowgirl outfit of Emerson’s, that Grammy & Papa got in Texas, approximately four-ish years ago. So stinking cute!!

We went back to Walmart for a second time before Emerson woke up, to pick up our weekly grocery order. But I had forgotten to order baby food, so we ran inside super fast to grab a huge stockpile.

Then after Emmie woke up and we got ourselves ready, we headed over to Tom Brown park to have a park playdate with with Aunt Megan, Uncle Bo & the triplets!

Uncle Bo put Addison in the baby swing for her first time on the swing, and she was absolutely loving it! She stayed in there for 10-15 minutes, just swingin’ and kickin’ her little legs, once again as happy as a clam!

After the park, Jeff and the boys came to meet us at his parents’ house, to have Christmas dinner and presents with them. Addison fell asleep in the car from the park to their house, after staying awake the whole time, trying to play with and watch the big girls.

Nana got both girls their first Cabbage Patch doll, but these are dressed in cute little animal costumes. Emerson’s is Rosalie Flamingo, and Addison’s is Cleo Shark, and they’re so adorable! And they brought back so much nostalgia for me! I had one growing up that I loved so much. Even the smell of their new babies reminded me of mine! After carrying her baby around the house the rest of the night, on the way home, Emerson said, “I love this new baby. I’ve never had a baby doll like this. I don’t know how to play with her though?” I said, “You can play with her however you want to, she’s your baby doll, just like all your other baby dolls!”

I have to brag on Ryan and Gabe tonight, because they’ve helped so much washing the dishes since they’ve been here the last few days. They forgot last night, and there was a huge sink-full of dirty dishes from the past few days, and when I got home tonight, they had washed all of them while we were at the park, and I was so grateful to come home and see this!

This unicorn eye mask was one of the random things we found in the Christmas clearance at Walmart today, for a whopping $1.50. She slept with it for her whole nap, and put it on again for bedtime tonight. Another funny thing she said on the way home tonight was, “I like unicorns so much because the thing on the back of their head is so rainbow-y.”

Baby Cowgirl had fallen asleep in the car again, and stayed in her seat at home for a while, while we got all the presents unpacked and got Emerson to sleep. Jeff got her changed into her jammies and is feeding her a bottle now, and hopefully she’ll be ready to lay down in her crib for bedtime shortly.

I had a nice day off with my girls and the family, and of course don’t want to go back to work tomorrow,. But I only have to work two days this week, then we’re off Thursday & Friday again, so that’s really not a terrible situation to be in!
