Swimming Pool Karaoke

I had planned for us to have cereal for breakfast this morning, but Emmie asked for a McGriddle instead, so we gave in and ordered some breakfast on the app.

We spent some time cleaning up around the house and doing dishes after breakfast, tidying up and doing a few chores. Jeff went to Port St. Joe for one of his side-job clients, and planned to be there all day. We thought we might go too and just go to the beach while he worked, but the forecast there looked terrible, so we decided not to do that.

Instead, we let Jeff head out to do his side job, and Emmie called Grammy to ask if the pool was open, and could we come over to swim 🙂 So obviously that’s what we did! We had gotten the girls these little chairs recently, and they were so cute and funny sitting in them out at the pool.

They even had their lunch sitting in their little chairs.

And when I said I wasn’t ready to get out yet, Papa offered to make & deliver lunch to Mama and I out in the pool as well. They had gotten this pepper jack seafood dip from Publix, and that was really good.

The whole time we were outside swimming, I had my phone hooked to a little bluetooth speaker, playing a 90’s country playlist, blasting all the fun tunes I grew up listening to. I was of course singing along to every word on pretty much all of them, having my own little swimming pool karaoke.

We stayed out in the pool a while longer, and then eventually went inside to change, and all of us fell asleep for a little nap. We hung out for a bit after we woke up, just taking it easy and enjoying an easy-going afternoon. Eventually the girls and I got our stuff packed up, and we headed out. We made a stop at Publix for a couple things, then picked up our Walmart grocery order before finally getting back home.

I wasn’t going to cook tonight, so we grabbed some popcorn chicken at Publix for the girls, and I just threw a few other things on their plates for an easy “snack supper,” as we like to call it. And I had my current obsession, tomato toast. But I also changed it up a bit and made half of it with garlic & herb goat cheese, and half with mayo. The goat cheese one was really good, but nothing beats the classic southern combo of Duke’s mayo & tomato.

We took Pennie girl a short little walk after dinner to get some of her energy out, and Addie carried around this stick for most of the time, even knocked me in the face with it once or twice.

We found this cutie little mushroom on our walk, but left it undisturbed.

The girls had a super fast bath after our walk then I got them in fresh jammies and ready for bed. And of course all of us snuggled up on the couch with our doggie to watch Bluey before bedtime. As we were sitting here, Emerson said, “This doggie likes me.” They just seriously bonded so fast, and it’s so special!

And then Emerson legitimately fell sound asleep like this, hugging Pennie with her head resting on her back. Good grief the cuteness, and the sweetness! I carried Emmie to her bed not long after this, and she was perfectly fine.

But then Addie didn’t want to go to sleep, and needed some extra time. So they switched places and Addie came to snuggle up with Pennie on the couch. She was having a little bit of a rough time, just wanting Daddy, but he hadn’t quite make it home yet.

Jeff is home now though, and Pennie and I were super excited to see him, but Addie had finally fallen asleep by that point. Gonna go eat a peach, and then re-do my fingernails before bedtime.
