Sweeter Bedtime

After last night’s debacle, it was around 9:30pm last night, that Jeff finally laid Emerson down in her bed. She woke up a little bit then and asked for me, but she ended up falling asleep all on her own. She then woke up around 1:15am, whining and groaning a little bit. It woke me up, so I watched her on the security camera searching for her paci, and once she found it, she went back to sleep. So luckily, I didn’t even have to actually get out of the bed.

And then when we woke her up this morning, she was mostly back to her normal, happy self. But by the time we got to school, this girl was being so silly & goofy!

She took a decent nap at school today, and it looks like she had fun at craft time, and made a little hat to wear!

Jeff attended a conference at our church today, called Seminary for a Day, where professors from New Orleans Baptist Seminary came and taught a few classes today to attendees. He said the conference was great, and he even won a free book!

He was done there mid-afternoon-ish, so he got to pick up Emerson from school early today, around 4pm, and she was so excited to see him! She insisted on carrying her bag, even all the way to Nana’s building next door, when they went to visit her really quickly.

After I got off work, I made a super quick stop at the downtown library to pick up a book I had on hold, before I lost my hold chance and it got re-shelved, and then I headed home to meet my little family!

Jeff and Emerson did a quick errand run to Home Depot, and then we all got home at the same time. Emmie sat at the counter drinking some milk, trying to purposefully give herself a milk mustache.

We went super simple tonight for dinner, with good ole spaghetti & meatballs with garlic bread. Emerson may not like tomato sauce, but the girl loves meatballs! On her plate down there were three that I cut up, and she ended up eating two more after that.

She wanted to pic out our record tonight, and she was so stinking adorable flipping through our crate of records, as if she really knew what she was doing, and what she was looking for. She chose “Hello Dolly” and loved watching me set it up, and start it spinning.

Right before it was time to eat, she was in need of a stinky diaper change, and she told Daddy that since spaghetti was messy, she should just take her dress off, and so she ran back into the dining room in nothing but her diaper!

She was super fun and funny and goofy in the bath tonight, and we had fun together. She kept putting her toys up on the ledge, and thought it was hilarious when I knocked it off into the tub. We did it about 15 times, and she did the greatest belly laugh every single time. Then she specifically requested to be burrito’d-up super tight, and for me to take her to see Daddy like a burrito.

Bedtime tonight went so much better. She was actually starting to get a little bit whiny, but we had a little chat about how hard last night was, and that we couldn’t do it again, because she needed good sleep tonight. She seemed to listen well and really understand, and then we read our Bible story. She was precious at prayer-time, and then gave both Mommy & Daddy lots of sweet hugs.

During our last little chat before lullabies, she was telling me about some of her friends at school, naming each one and saying it like, “William doesn’t hit…” I asked her, “does Emerson hit her friends?” And this is the little face she made while sweetly (and a bit slyly) saying “nooooooo?” So I made sure we knew that it wasn’t nice to hit our friends, and hopefully that sunk in. In between telling me things, she kept saying, “And sooooo, blah blah blah. And sooo…” I thought it was funny.

She wanted Mommy to sing lullabies tonight (instead of of the instrumental stuff she likes sometimes), so after we finished our regular lullaby playlist, she very sweetly laid down in bed, with no problems. Praise the Lord!

I did my usual dishes-and-audio-book routine after getting her down, and Jeff fell asleep in the recliner around 8:30 while I was washing dishes. So I’ve been watching Netflix while blogging from the front computer room, and then I’m sending him off to bed, so I can watch some more Netflix, but on the couch now instead 🙂
