Difficult Bedtime Routine

We forgot the tiny bunny at home again, so once again, Daddy had to take the tiny bunny back to bed to hang out with the big bunny during the day, then send us a picture for photographic evidence for the toddler.

There were no “incidents” by the muffins this morning, so my girl got her muffin, and then proceeded to make herself a cup of tea to go with it in her classroom 😉

These sandwiches weren’t quite as good as microwaved-leftovers, but they were still pretty tasty. I’m still trying to get a little further into this book, but it’s slow-going, especially since I only took a short 30-minute lunch, so after I finished eating, I didn’t get to read for all that long.

Emerson took a good nap at school today, did some painting, and went pee-pee in the potty! Woo-hoo! This is still one of the handful of times she’s done that, so it’s still a big deal.

She had this cute little pony tail, and when I asked her about it at dinner, she said Miss Lindsey did it for her.

I actually started this new audio book yesterday, but forgot to share it in yesterday’s post. It’s another Reese Witherspoon book club pick, and I’ve been on the library holds list forever because it’s super popular right now. I had been on hold for so long, I couldn’t even remember what it was about. But then listening to the first chapter yesterday, I was really frustrated with the terrible situation that was happening, but I was also immediately interested. I do remember hearing it doesn’t go where you think it’s going, and after just hearing a little teaser/twist in the middle of chapter six, I’m very intrigued about what’s coming…

Tonight, Grammy & Grandmommie were on triplet duty (while their parents did the preaching/teaching for the youth group at their church), so that meant Grammy couldn’t pick up Emmie from school. But instead, Papa got to pick her up! And she has been looking forward to that all week! The rest of us still met up at Firehouse for dinner before church, and ate yummy subs! Emerson was super into the fire hat tonight, And also ate a ton of her dinner.

We had a good night in choir, and then when we picked up Emerson afterwards, she was playing with her friends and getting twirled around, and doing flips on the floor, and just having a grand ole time!

And of course she wanted to hike up the tiny hill, not once, not twice, but three times, before getting in the car.

She was perfectly fine & happy when we left church, but then things went downhill fast once we got home. She was whining about every little thing, she couldn’t decide what snack she wanted, she didn’t want to go to bed, she wouldn’t take her allergy meds, she wanted to watch a video but not the one I said, she didn’t want to read books, she didn’t want prayers, she didn’t want lullabies…. And through most of that, she was crying for about 90% of if all. I was losing my patience, fast, so Daddy came to help take over. She was still doing everything in her power to stall bedtime, and just completely refusing to calm down and go to bed. Daddy found a video she liked and she started calming down, but then after it ended, she freaked out again.

I ended up having to leave the room, because my nerves were absolutely shot, and I couldn’t take anymore of if, and so I asked if she wanted Mommy and she said no, so I left the room. I’ve been blogging from our bedroom (which is across the hall from her room), so I can still hear them, and it’s not going well. They read about four books together, and she started crying again and wouldn’t calm down and didn’t want lullabies. Jeff is singing “Jesus Loves Me” and rocking her, and she’s quieting down a little bit. I’ll go in and check on them, and see if she’s changed her mind and wants to hold me, but let’s all pray we can get this girl to sleep soon! Clearly, bedtime has been really difficult tonight, but I’m thankful His mercies are new every morning!
