We actually have pictures of both my little cuties this morning, and a special appearance selfie from me today too 🤣
I had taken Emerson to the pediatrician very first thing this morning, for them to check out a spot of irritated skin she’s got on her side, from a bandage. I was worried it was infected, but it’s just irritated, and we need to continue the hydrocortisone. But after a very quick appointment, we raced to school and I still got her there right on time!
On the way home tonight, I started noticing that it was lighter than it has been recently… Then it made me realize that we’re now past the darkest part of winter, and back on our way towards lighter evenings and the longer, warmer days of spring and summer. Not long after I had that thought, we made it about halfway home and started being able to see the sunset. And since we live on the West side of the city, as we got closer and closer to home, the sunset progressively got more and more beautiful, and I took literally 18 photos and 3 videos, because I just couldn’t get enough!
When we got home, Jeff and Addie loaded right back up in the car to head to Walmart, to get some filters for the air return vents in the house. We woke up this morning to our a/c unit frozen over, so he started looking into that and figuring it out, and the first step is replacing the filters. He’s usually on top of that, but we were slightly behind, so him and Addie had a little fun with this giant monkey while picking up filters. And I guess we gotta call the a/c guy to come out and take a look at the a/c unit and see what else is going on.
Back at home, Emmie called Grammy for a family interview project for school, and the proceeded to separately call Papa for a chat, and then Grandmommie after that too. Meanwhile, I made some meat sauce for pasta (we only had shells), and threw together a salad to go with it for dinner.
We still had our little orange posset experiment in the fridge from Sunday, which we found out still did not actually set the way it was supposed to. It was tasty, very tasty actually – tasted just like an orange creamsicle! But the texture of it was definitely strange. So, I guess we’re gonna consider it a half-failed experiment.
It was a late dinner and a late night after all the Walmart and air filter business, so we just watched one Bluey and then got started on bedtime. Emmie and I had two of her library books to read (for her second time), so that she can take two AR tests on them at school tomorrow. These were little illustrated versions of Ella Fitzgerald (which I played a few snippets of songs for her so she’d know), and Emmeline Pankhurst (who I learned about for the first time, led the sufragettes in England in the very early 1900’s). So now we’re both educated on these two women!
And then she promptly passed out during prayers and lullabies.
Jeff successfully got Addison to sleep in her bed, so hopefully she does well in there tonight. She’s doing better this past week or so than the past year, but she’s still waking up in the middle of the night most nights, but at least we’ve been able to get her back down in her own bed, instead of her spending the whole night in ours….
