We had cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon & tiny biscuits (with homemade, gifted mayhaw jelly) for breakfast today, to fortify us for a busy day.
We spent a little time playing and cleaning up, then Addie only wanted to nap with someone holding her, so Jeff got the lucky job of holding her while she slept.
And Emerson and I worked our butts off cleaning her room. It was an absolute disaster in there, like a tornado had ripped through there, with only a small, messy path to & from the bed, and a huge pile of stuff on top of the dresser as well. But we spent about an hour in there, and got so much work done! We even put aside three boxes of stuff to donate, so that made me feel good too.
Then we got a quick lunch from McDonald’s, and took a beautiful 30-minute drive down a canopy road, to go to a birthday party for one of Emerson’s school friends.
Even Addie put on her new swim suit (a birthday present from Aunt Meggie & Uncle Bo) and she got to splash around too! And good grief that girl was so flipping adorable in her suit!
Addison tried her first juice, and could NOT get enough of it.
We skipped Emmie’s afternoon nap, and both girls played so hard for a couple hours, and of course they were out in just a few minutes after getting on the road.
We stopped for gas on the way home, and once we got home, they were still asleep. I went inside to take a shower and Jeff sat in the car with them to let them sleep more, and they slept for another hour! After I showered, I wrote the first half of this blog, and I’m literally going right now to go wake them up and bring them inside…
After we woke them up, we got them in the bathtub, to wash off their sunscreen and grass. Then Nana showed up, with all sorts of little things, like these stuffy’s she just couldn’t resist, and the Mer-cat she got for Emmie as a prize for her ballet recital last night.
Nana brought over Chick-fil-A, and you know Emerson talked her into eating dinner out on the back porch. Meanwhile, Jeff and I were getting ready to go out for a date night for his birthday (which was last weekend)!
He loves all Asian foods, but hibachi the best, so we went to Nagoya for fancy hibachi and some entertainment. Our besties Britteny and Steven met us there, and we had a great night. We had one sushi roll for our appetizer (I was craving it and couldn’t resist), and then had amazing steak & chicken hibachi dinners.
We haven’t actually been to a hibachi restaurant like this in years, but it really was some of the best we’ve had – soooo good! And clearly so much food! I only ate about half of my giant plate, and brought the rest home to have leftovers for lunch on Monday.
Britteny and I actually planned to wear our matching dresses together, and we were pretty cute 🙂
This is the 10th birthday of his we’ve celebrated together (we started “talking” literally one week after his 30th birthday back in 2011), and I love this guy so much, and I’m so glad we got to go out and celebrate another year of his life!
When we got back home, both of our little girls were still awake and waiting for us, even though it was a little bit past their usual bedtime. But they were so sweet and cute and I’m glad I got to love and hug on them and put them both to sleep. Well, I worked on Emmie’s bedtime while Jeff rocked Addie to sleep, and then I carried Addie to lay her down in her bed, and got in some snuggles and kisses before laying her down.
Emerson told me multiple times tonight how fun our day was today, and I have to agree. It started out with eggs & cleaning, but then we had fun at a splash party, Nana-time for the girls and friends/hibachi for us. It really was a great, fun day!
