Today was Christmas Jammies day at school, and as usual (no one’s surprised), all four girls were super adorable in their fun little jammies! Riley had been playing with a water bottle in the car and somehow got it open, and spilled it all down her front. They were gonna throw it in the dryer for her at school, so she wouldn’t have to be wet and cold all morning. Silly goose!
I treated myself to a solo lunch date, to try out a tuna sandwich I’ve seen over & over again on the Tallahassee Foodies Facebook page. I’ve been not so much “craving” tuna, but just like, really into it over the past few weeks or so. I had my mom’s homemade tuna at her house, I ordered it to be delivered to my office from Metro Deli one day, I picked it up from Jimmy John’s a week later, and now I just had to get it from Kosta’s too. I always get their gyro’s there, which I think are the best in town, but the tuna was soooo good today too! He puts some sort of special spice mix & sauce on it, and wow. Delish.
He also suggested a piece of baklava as I was checking out, and that was an offer to good to refuse. I actually sat in the restaurant and ate by myself (like a big girl!) on my own solo lunch date, which I never do. It would have been nice to eat outside or at a park, because it was so sunny, but it was way too cold for that. Also, you can’t really tell because it’s hidden under the cheese, but there was a LOT of tuna on that sub, and I was stuffed to capacity. I had to save the dessert for later, but it definitely got eaten at work this afternoon.
I did finish this book today on my lunch break, so that was a good distraction while I was by myself.
I made a quick stop by Walgreens after lunch for a few things I needed to keep in my desk, before heading back to the office. I’ve had a little bit of a sinus cold or something for a couple of days, and did some research this morning to find out that Claritin is safe to take during pregnancy. So at Walgreen’s, I took the pharmacist my little Claritin card from the aisle, and asked if I could take it while pregnant, just to confirm. He was like, “I don’t think any of those are safe…” So he went and consulted with the second pharmacist, and he came back and was like, “OK I’m being told that most of them are actually pretty safe, but Allegra is the best.” So I said sure I’ll take that. He grabs a box and I pay, and while I’m looking at it back at work, I realize it’s Allegra-D, with pseudoephedrine, and you definitely can’t take pseudoephedrine while pregnant.
I then called NFWC (my OB) and they were like, “Actually, Allegra is the ONE you can’t take, but Claritin & Zyrtec are fine, just not the ones that say “D.”” So now, thanks to the two stupid pharmacists, I had to wait until I get home to take the Claritin I thought I had here. But then when I got home after picking up Emmie, I couldn’t find it, so I still couldn’t take any. Really hoping they’ll at least let me return this one tomorrow.
Here’s Emmie and all her cute PJ friends, with their teacher, Ms. Nicole.
I have NOT felt like cooking or cleaning or washing dishes, so we decided to get CFA tonight. (Jeff also got me the correct Claritin while he was out, so I finally got some relief started around 7:30pm.) But when I opened up my chicken sandwich, it didn’t look quite right. The breading was weird and chunky, and the whole thing seemed really gristle-y, and it just really grossed me out, and I could not eat it. I sat with them while they ate for a bit, but then the smell started really grossing me out, so I sat on the couch while they finished. I ended up getting Jeff to make me a PB&J and chocolate milk, and that was good.
They were looking up pictures of men in kilts, because she was asking why Daddy doesn’t wear dresses to church, or get himself a “boys dress,” so THAT was an interesting and weird conversation 😉
She came over to show me the color matching game she got in her kids meal, and was being so sweet and precious trying to help make me feel better. She went and got the thermometer to make sure I didn’t have a fever (that was all her idea, and I did not have a fever), and kept giving me the most gentle, sweetest little hugs. This sinus pressure headache has just been killing me all day!
She was good and really sweet at bedtime, and even said, “This is a funny bedtime, not a rough one.” And she was right. She called me back in a couple of times to tell me her lip hurt (no idea what that was about), but I gave her some chapstick and then she was fine and settled down. I doubt I’ll stay awake too much longer, but last night we started watching “The Man Who Invented Christmas” (a movie about Charles Dickens), so we’ll watch that for about 20-30 minutes to wind down before I fall asleep on the couch, and eventually head off to bed.
