So this morning we were supposed to take Emmie to the dentist. But long story short, everyone forgot that she was supposed to take one dose of antibiotics 30 minutes prior to the appointment, because of her heart surgery, so at 7:45ish we had to pivot. We had planned to leave home at 7:45, but my girl was sobbing because she was upset that was was not going to the dentist today. So I offered to get her a donut on the way to school as a special treat, but she just wanted Mommy to make her an egg sandwich at home! What kind of kid do I have on my hands here?! One who cries over not going to the dentist, and is obsessed with boiled eggs, egg salad and devilled eggs… What a silly pants girl!!
The tiniest tot fell asleep on the way to school, after fighting sleep in her swing at home for the longest time this morning.
On the way to school this morning, we were talking about our orange tree, and that it wouldn’t be ready to harvest for another month or more. Then she was like, “I wish we had a strawberry tree, because strawberries are amazing.”
After dropping Addie off at her classroom, we stopped by for Emmie to love the triplets, and the were so surprised and excited to see her! (Look at Riley’s face back there, looking up at me! So cute!)
After watching the football game at our friends’ house last weekend, they sent us home with some of the leftover burgers, which they cooked in the cast iron skillet, and it was delicious for lunch today, with some chips and carrots & hummus. (I realized later I accidentally grabbed two mayo packets, so I switched one out later for ketchup.)
Emerson’s school report said they were practicing patterns using Skittles, and Addison was moving all around her classroom today!
On our way home tonight, Emerson told me she wanted to “go to a game sometime.” I said sure. Then she said something about wanting to see sports, so I said sure. Then she was like, “What are sports?” So I said something about playing games, and she was quiet for a few seconds and asked, “Like hot potato?” After giggling about that, I tried to explain about different games like football, basketball and soccer, and I think she got it. So, looks like maybe this winter we need to take her to see a basketball game or something!
Emmie did some art at the counter tonight, while I cooked dinner. (Pretzel had his bi-annual vet check-up today, so Jeff didn’t get home from picking him up until a little after I started cooking, so I did the first half of dinner, with a baby in one arm, and a spoon in the other!)
I made Indian Butter Chicken tonight for dinner, with basmati rice, and although it may not look super appetizing (it doesn’t really photograph well, and the picture was blurry anyways), but it was amazing, and Jeff just raved over it. And there are no leftovers, because he went back for a big ole scoop of seconds!
Emmie tried a few bites of the butter chicken, but she wasn’t a fan (even though she ate an entire bowl when I made this last time), so she just had the naan and some plain white rice.
We did bath time after dinner, and Jeff got a load of laundry started. Then we got both girls in their jammies, and Emmie picked a snack and we watched a little bit of a movie before bedtime. She was just so pretty, but she caught me trying to sneak a picture of her!
I was cracking up at the way Addison fell asleep with Daddy, all sprawled out like a little starfish!
After getting Emmie to sleep, I gave Addie a bottle, and then snuggled her on the couch for a little bit before getting her in her sleep sack and laying her down in bed.
I just love these little sleep sounds and lip smacks. So precious.
She stayed asleep while getting her sleep sack on, but just barely woke up when I laid her down. Luckily, she was super tired and went right back to sleep super fast.
I got all of our dishes washed, and Jeff got the clothes in the dryer, so now it’s time to rest! I’ve started watching Christmas movies while I blog at night, and tonight, I just finished “Christmas Inheritance” on Netflix, which was cute and cozy and everything you want in a Christmas rom-com. We are now going to attempt to finish watching “Black Widow” on Disney+; we started it two nights ago, but I keep falling asleep on the couch every night.
