We slept in until 7:30 this morning! And as great as it was, the parents were still super tired. But um, are toddler parents ever not tired? I don’t think so… But this sweet girl was precious, and she loved eating her cereal for breakfast before church.
We had a great morning at church today, in Sunday school and in worship. (Even if I did sob my way through singing “It Is Well with My Soul.” We sang it at my Granddaddy’s funeral 3.5 years ago, and I still weep every single time we sing it.)
Emerson made this adorable crown in Sunday school, and she was wearing it all over the place after church.
We had lunch with our friends Ashlee & Louis again, but at Zaxby’s this week. Emmie barely ate anything, but she was just dying to go outside and jump around in the sunshine for a bit afterwards.
After we got home, Emerson went down for her nap pretty easily. So then I laid down to nap too. But she woke up after only 30 minutes, and I couldn’t get her back down… So instead, I painted her tiny piggies purple!
Then we read a few books. This pop-up Snow White book was one of the three we got at the thrift store yesterday, but this was the first time we read it. And you know she’s a fan of Bible stories over princess stories lately, when she kept asking which one of the dwarfs was Noah… 🙂
And since she didn’t want to sleep anymore, after some cuddles and books and watching “Coco,” we got dressed and went to the park! I requested to do pigtails, and she agreed as long as I would put two hair clips in. Deal!
We walked around from the playground to the dog park after a while like usual, and there were TONS of dogs out there today. This one in particular really hit it off with Emerson, and she loved her so much! Her owner came over and talked to us for a while, and told us she’s mix of Golden-Doodle & Great Pyrenees, and she’s only 10 months old. She was super fluffy and super sweet, and we stood there talking and petting and playing for about 10 or 15 minutes. Oh, and her name was Nellie.
There were also tons of birds & turtles in the little pond today, so we had lots of fun pointing them all out to Emerson and making sure she saw them.
After walking on the “balance beam” again, she took a little tumble in the giant pile of leaves on the side, and even though she wasn’t hurt and was perfectly fine, she had tons of leaves all over her clothes and hair, and I couldn’t stop laughing.
At the tea party last weekend, when it was time to serve up the frittata, I realized I didn’t have a pie server. So Grandmommie has been looking for one for me this past week, and came across the most perfect Pioneer Woman one, and I love it! I’m actually making another frittata for dinner tomorrow night, so it was great timing!
After the park, we went home to get started on dinner. Emmie was getting a little upset (she was tired since she had a tiny nap), so Daddy took her on a little walk around the neighborhood and they played in the backyard, and she put these tiny flowers behind her ear, and gave some to Daddy too.
For dinner, I made a new recipe for these delicious baked ham & swiss sliders, and they turned out sooo good! Between the three of us, we ended up eating 10 of the sammies tonight, and I packed up the remaining two for lunch tomorrow, and I’m hoping they will be good again for lunch!
Even Emerson loved the slider, and ate almost every single bite of hers!
We got ready for bedtime after dinner, and read some more Bible stories together. She wouldn’t let me turn the pages though, because she said Charlie Brown wanted to turn the pages.
She was good and sweet at bedtime, and told me a little bit about her day (she always likes to talk for a few minutes), and then we did lullabies and she laid down. But then she proceeded to talk to herself and sing to herself and clapping for herself. So Jeff went back in there to hold her and rock her for a few minutes. After that, she did another few rounds of ABC’s and Jesus Loves Me, but now, like 40 minutes later, I think she’s finally worn herself out for good. Let’s all pray she sleeps well through the night!
We’ve been doing laundry on & off this afternoon, and we got all of Emmie’s clothes folded, hung up & put away earlier. We’ve got another load to work on, and some dishes to wash, and then we’ll sit down to watch something on Netflix before bedtime.
