Skipping Bath Time

Emerson first started waking up this morning around 5:30am. She was kind of groaning and calling for Mommy, but I was still mostly asleep myself, so I left her there and luckily she fell back asleep for a while (as did I). Then after Jeff got her up for real around 7, he got her dressed and put her on the couch with her shoes while he went to do something else. So when I came into the living room and saw her sitting there, just putting on her own shoes like a big girl, she looked like she was about 10 years old!

We saw Ms. Q right before taking these photos, Emmie was in a great mood, we got a muffin, and she had a great, super easy peasy morning drop-off.

Look at that little cheek bulging with a bit of her muffin!

Then she just walked right into her classroom, and over to her teacher like it was no big deal.

I had leftover chicken alfredo for lunch today, and made good progress on my library book. (I also worked on my grocery list & meal plan for next week, and I’m very excited to try two new recipes from my favorite food blogger.) And then for my afternoon break/snack, I read some more and drank hot chocolate, but very very carefully, so I didn’t spill it again, and end up having to buy the library book due to damages…

Jeff had a late-afternoon doctor’s appointment over on the daycare side of town, so he picked up Emmie from school. I got home about 30 minutes before they did, so I got started on putting away clean dishes and started on dinner – chicken taquitos, yellow rice, black beans, plus chips & salsa. Emmie asked for some “chockit” milk, and wanted to watch up close and personal.

She loves to just sit in the middle of the floor to take her shoes off once she gets home, so we’ve been teaching her to line them up out of the way, so they’re not thrown around everywhere. Look how good she’s done with it the last few days! (That Tupperware is her rice bin from a couple weeks ago, that we kept for future use.)

She ate really well at dinner (one whole taquito plus half of another, and some rice), so she got to pick a candy snack from her Halloween bucket. Plus she had one tortilla chip too.

Even though it should have been a bath night, I was feeling tired and lazy… So I asked her if she wanted to take a bath or skip it, and she looked at me very quizzically, and a little skeptically, and said, “hmm skip it.” So we cuddled up on the couch and read books together instead, and I think it was a good decision. Reading together is always a good thing!

Bedtime went well, and she was super sweet and precious during our night-night videos and bedtime books. I got lots of snuggles and kisses, and after repeating the final lullaby song a second time, she let me lay her down in her crib. We then finished up with “Jesus Loves Me” two times and back scratches.

I got all the dishes washed & the kitchen cleaned, and just in case I haven’t mentioned this, and you’d like to know, this fall scent from Mrs. Meyer’s is like, really, really good. After washing the dishes with it, I always wipe down the stove & counters with it, and then I always wash my hands with it. And then everything smells so nice and apple cider-y.

So, now that I’m finishing up this blog post, it is of course time for our current routine of Netflix & Hot Tea. (By the way, these are both Pioneer Woman mugs from Walmart, because I love her and her food and her stuff.)

Night friends!
