Six Years of Celebrating our Anniversary

Today is mine & Jeff’s 6th wedding anniversary! And to commemorate the occasion, I thought I’d do a short little post dedicated to all of our past anniversary’s. So to get things started, here’s a brief “history” of our relationship…

Sometime in the very beginning of May 2011, I got strep throat really super bad and was out of work for a week. While bored at home, I signed up for a dating website. So we actually “met” on that dating site, just a week or so after I signed up. We talked online and through emails/phone/text for a few weeks, and then spontaneously had our first date/meeting at Zaxby’s for lunch one day, somewhere around the end of May. We dated over that summer, and officially became boyfriend/girlfriend on August 10th. We dated for 1.5-ish years, and got engaged on Valentine’s Day, 2013, and then married later that year, on October 5th, 2013!

Wedding day in 2013 – ceremony & reception at Wakulla Springs Lodge! After it all ended, we drove to Orlando, to spend the night in a hotel, and then we flew to Cancun the next day! We stayed at the Westin Lagunamar for a week, and had the best time ever. (I wish I could share tons more honeymoon photos, because there are so many good ones. But maybe I’ll just do a separate post sometime to reflect specifically on our Cancun trip…)

1st Anniversary in 2014 – camping at Topsail Hill State Park for a weekend & dinner one night in Destin.

2nd Anniversary in 2015 – camping in Topsail Hill State Park for the weekend, and dinner one night in Grayton Beach. (And somehow we didn’t take even one single picture together that weekend…)

3rd Anniversary in 2016 – dinner on our anniversary here in town at Riccardo’s, followed by camping for the weekend a few weeks later in Manatee Springs State Park.

4th Anniversary in 2017 – our first anniversary post-baby, and not ready to go back to our camping tradition. So we did lunch at Great Wraps on our break from work (followed by a quick run to Toys-R-Us for diapers & formula), & then dinner at Kool Beanz later that night (one of my favorite meals ever).

5th Anniversary in 2018 – cruise to Grand Cayman & Cozumel on Royal Caribbean! (Waiters brought us cake with a candle & sang and were being crazy and I was laughing so much and it’s not a great photo, but it’s a great memory.)

Tonight, we’re celebrating our 6th Anniversary in 2019, with dinner and a movie. We are going to do an early dinner at Harry’s (one of our favorites, plus we got a $10 off coupon in the mail the other day, score!), and then go to AMC to see Joker. (It’s not a “romantic” movie, but it was one of the only options…) And we’ve actually got the whole night to ourselves, because Emerson will be having her first sleepover at Grammy’s new house, so we can stay out as late as we want or go wherever we want, like two young newlyweds we were a few years ago. Looking forward to spending time just us two!

So thankful for that strep throat 8+ years ago, that led me to randomly decide to sign up for a dating site, where I quickly met this man. Thankful God brought us together, through modern technology! Love you, Hubby!
