Sideswiped My Car Mirror

Some days, I have only Emerson-related things to share. Today though, is full of a whole slew of random, fun things! So let’s get to it, even if the first thing isn’t exactly “fun” ….

Welp, my morning didn’t get off to quite the right start, and I officially feel like an idiot. I sideswiped a trash can with my passenger side mirror, and it came completely off my car. I was on one of those super skinny roads (just a few minutes from our house), and I was hugging the side as another car came towards me, and I didn’t realize how close I was to the trash cans on the side… I had to turn around and go back and pick it up out of the middle of the road. The whole thing was in three parts, and the mirror was broken and shattered. It can’t be salvaged, and will need to be completely replaced. I was so mad at myself for such a stupid thing!

But this sweet girl was so cute this morning, and so excited about finding pockets on her romper today, that she instantly put me in a good mood! She also needed another muffin from the front lobby today, and once again I couldn’t talk her out of it… Maybe she’ll forget over the weekend, and Monday we can just pass right by…??

The good news about my mirror is though, it can be purchased on Amazon! At first I assumed it would have to be done at a body shop or Dodge dealer, and cost an arm & a leg. But I Googled “replace side mirror on Dodge Avenger,” and one of the first things to pop up was an Amazon link, to buy it yourself! They actually sell tons of car parts, which I didn’t know. You can even input your car into your “Amazon Garage,” and it will tell you if the part is compatible with your car or not. So this one has already been ordered, and my handy hubby should be able to replace it himself! Praise! 🙌🏼

As I mentioned a few days ago, this week has been Grandparent’s Week at Growing Room. On Wednesday, Grammy got to read a book to Emerson’s class. Today, they had a sweet little Grandparents’ Tea Party, and Grammy, Grandmommie and Nana all got to attend! My heart almost exploded this picture is so sweet! You can see in Emerson’s smile how happy she was to have three of her most favorite people there with her!

Some of the girls in my office have been growing little plants in some of our huge windows. The plants are called something like “Mother of Millions” (actually, I think they have two different kinds – Mother of Millions and Mother of Thousands) and they sprout & drop these little “plantlets”, and then just keep growing. So they plucked off some of the little babies, brought in more soil, and shared with anyone who wanted some. I brought in my own little Terra-cotta pot I had at home, and now I have a new plant to tend at work. And they’re so cute! (First few pics is their little “farm,” then my new pot.)

For the first time this week, I actually brought myself a “real,” normal lunch today. And it was delicious! As noon crept closer and closer, I was getting super excited for lunch, and it did not disappoint! And this books took a few more crazy good twists during my lunch break.

We only got one picture from school today, but this funny message was from yesterday, that I didn’t see until this morning, and it’s too cute not to share. Her teacher said, “Emerson was riding in the play cars today. I asked her where was she going? Emerson replied she was going to get mommy from work. I asked her could I go and she told me no daddy goes with her.

When I got to daycare to pick up Emerson, they were out on the playground, and my Tater Tot was runnind around all over the place like a mad woman! Her face was beet red and her hair was so sweaty, but she was having so much fun! It took about five minutes for me to get her to come with me, she didn’t even want to leave. But then she just marched right over to the tiny water fountain, and stuck her face right in the stream, exactly like a big girl! (She had insisted on an outfit change earlier in the day, after getting some paint on her romper…)

Beautiful live oak trees!

Jeff’s work friend Ed is loaning us the 50+ year-old wagon. Ed brought it to work today, Jeff brought it home, and it was on the carport when we got there, and Emerson was very interested and excited about it! It needs a good wash/wipe down, but maybe we can take her for a little ride tomorrow, if it’s not too hot!

As soon as we got inside, I fixed her a cup of cold ice water, and made her drink as much as possible, since she was still so hot. I threw a frozen pizza in the oven, an then she had some snacks on the couch. Grammy got her these cheese and cracker sticks the other day, but tonight was the first time she tried them, and she loved them! She ate all of the bread sticks, and asked for more, so I got her some crackers to finish off the rest of the cheese. We also video-called Grammy & Papa while she ate her snack, and we were surprised Grandmommie was with them too! She loved talking to them.

She actually learned the word “grandparents” at school this week, and its so cute when she says it! Walking to the car after school, I asked who came to visit her today (expecting her to name Grammy, Nana & Grandmommie), but she actually said “grandparents!” So cute!

We read books and played and “made phone calls” while the pizza was baking. I asked who she was calling, and again, she said “grandparents!”

I put on one of “new” old records, and this one plays in perfect condition. I love finding ones like this!

I also got her to eat some fruit, by giving her this fruit pouch while she pulled out and read all the books in her living room toy crate.

And then I got her to eat veggies too, by slicing some carrots super thin, and giving her a dollop of Ranch to dip them in. I was just feeling so proud of myself for getting her to eat fruits and veggies in one meal tonight!

And this pizza turned out really good! It’s just the seven cheese rising crust pizza, from Walmart, but I really liked it. We tend to like our food a little more done with crispy bits, so I added an extra 5 minutes on broil after the standard cooking time. And it was so good! Jeff was was actually mowing the yard, so it was only Emerson and I for dinner.

She loved the record tonight! She was especially fond of the Pink Panther theme song. This was her dancing to it!

She needed a bath tonight, but she didn’t want to take one. So I decided we would just skip it, since she will most likely need another one after we play all day tomorrow. So instead, she just got ready for bed right after dinner, but I let her stay up a little later playing, because she was being so sweet and silly.

When Jeff finished mowing, I got him an ice cold Gatorade, and we sat on the back patio with him for a little while, while he rested and cooled off. Emerson Love sitting outside and a big girl chair. But I didn’t take my phone out there with me, so I didn’t get a photo of that. But it actually felt pretty nice out there, and we enjoyed the fresh air for a little bit. She had a mild freak out when it was time to change her diaper (for unknown reasons), But after that she was back to her sweet self, and she was easy to put to bed tonight.

Jeff is getting cleaned up now, so I’m going to read for a little bit until he’s ready. And then I’m sure you can all guess what we are going to watch!

To today may have started off a little weird and frustrating, but it ended perfectly with time spent with my sweet little family! Happy Friday, friends!
