Shaken Espresso

We had a great morning at church today! My parents cooked a big meal for a teacher’s appreciation breakfast in GC Kids, so we came early to see them in the kitchen and sneak some breakfast casserole.

Jeff was serving in GC Kids today, but my parents got to come into big church and sit in the service with me after they took care of everything in the kitchen. Then they were also able to go out to lunch with us today, and we all loved that!

After lunch was of course nap time when we got home. As I got Addison to sleep in her bed, Jeff ran back out to pick up a small grocery order. (We got enough at Aldi last week for another week of meals, but we needed some things like coffee creamer and such..) Once we got the groceries put away, we laid down to nap too. I slept kinda fitfully for an hour or so (sometimes I’m just not very good at napping for whatever reason), and then we slowly got up and moving.

We have been bribing Addison to get her to sleep in her own bed every night, and once she does it for five nights, we let her buy some chocolate or candy. The first time, it took her two weeks to sleep five nights, and she got chocolate last weekend. This past week, it only took one week for her to make it five nights! So we went to Dollar Tree and let her pick out some candy. She needed to potty while we were there, but you couldn’t use their bathrooms, so while Emmie and I checked out, Jeff and Addie walked next door to Popeye’s to use their restroom & bought a kids meal for a snack while they were in there. Addie looked so cute sitting in the car just eating her little box of chicken on our way back home.

We also went through the Dunkin drive through to try out the $3 Happy Hour shaken espresso deal, and it was very strong, but actually very delicious, even though it’s not my usual drink.

When we got home, I immediate put together a cheesy chicken & rice casserole and got into the oven to bake. Then while it was cooking, the girls were playing together and Jeff and I were each working on our own chores and stuff around the house. And 45 minutes later, this came out looking golden and delicious.

I usually do a green veggie of some sort, but we just skipped it this time and went with casserole and rolls. And our new little cups we got at Home Goods yesterday are the perfect size for our water mix-in flavor packets we love, and look super cute on the table too.

After dinner, Jeff got back to working on repairing the arch lamp that broke a while back. The base it sat in just kinda gave out after five or so years, and we’ve had the parts sitting off to the side of the dining room for the last year, just waiting for us to back around to fixing it. Well since I’ve been reading more paper books again these days and not only on my Kindle, so Jeff got busy fixing it for me, since this is my fave spot to read. This is even named “reading lamp” on our Google Home, and I’m very glad it’s back again!

I did sit there reading for a while, while the girls watched Bluey, and then it was bedtime. I read Addison a little book of lift-the-flap bedtime Bible stories, and then went to Emmie’s room to go through her routine next.

My big girl was super sleepy, and by the time we made it through lullabies and prayers, she was already sleep-twitching, completely out.

We had a great Sunday today, with a good morning at church, family time, afternoon naps, and then a few errands, chores, coffee & a simple home-cooked meal for dinner. Plus, completing the lamp project! Grateful again for days like today.
