Saturday Soup & Salsa

After my late night getting home from the movie last night (I wasn’t home until after 10pm), it took me a long time to unwind and get ready for bed. So I didn’t go to sleep until 12:15am, and then Addison woke up needing a bottle at 12:45, so I fed her, and held her for a while, and finally went back to bed around 2am. Then Emerson woke up around 4:30 after a bad dream, so I had to take her back to bed and get her to sleep. Jeff had gone to sleep early at 9:45pm last night, so he was ready to wake up early with the girls this morning. Which was great for me, because he let me sleep in a little bit this morning, and took the girls to get donuts for breakfast. So when I got up, there was a box of donuts waiting for me!

We had kind of a slow morning, just hanging out, napping, watching tv and videos…

Then Emmie and I spent about an hour of cleaning in Emerson’s room. I didn’t take a “before” photo, but there was only one messy path to & from her bed, and the rest was piled high all over the whole room…

I’ve had this soup starter kit in the cabinet for a few months, and I was finally ready to give it a try today. All you have to do is add liquid (it said water, but I did chicken broth), and onion (it said one, but I did two because I love onion), boil for 12 minutes, and ta-da! But I just so happened to have provolone cheese in the fridge, so I added croutons & cheese, then broiled it in the “hand-me-down” soup bowls from an old family friend, and this was sooo good.

Jeff was skeptical at first, and though the combo of grilled cheese & French onion soup was weird at first, but once he started eating it, he actually loved it, and told me twice during lunch, and another time randomly this afternoon.

Emmie tried the soup but didn’t like it, but she still ate her sandwich really well.

After lunch, it was my turn to chill out and hold the sleepy baby for her nap, and just so happened to take a nap myself, while Emerson also napped in her bed.

We had a little bit more playtime after everyone woke up. Then Jeff loaded up Addison and they went to pick up our Walmart grocery order, while Emerson helped me wash the dishes.

Then, even though it was absolutely freezing outside, Emerson was dying to go to a playground, so we bundled her up, and went to the one down by our house. Addison was sleepy (and I was lazy and cold), so Jeff and Emmie played, while Addie and I sat in the warm car for 20-ish minutes.

Then it was time for some Mexican food! I hadn’t had my fave Mexican food in 3-4 weeks, and I was really craving some carnitas, and Jeff was craving fajita nachos, so we went to one of our top favorite Mexican places, Echalee.

But Little Bit didn’t want Mexican, so we got her a kids meal from Chick-fil-A, and girlfriend actually ate the entire stinking thing tonight, which she typically never does.

But this carnitas arepa was probably the best one I’ve ever had. They always stuff a TON of guac right at the opening, so I scrape it out and add it back on bite by bite as I go, and it was just seriously so good. There was also theĀ most amount of meat in this thing, and I was one happy camper at dinner tonight.

Sisters watching “Yo Gabba Gabba” on YouTube together, waiting for us to pay the check and head out…

We did bath and bottle and jammies when we got home, then Jeff put Addison to sleep, while Emerson and I had cuddle-time watching “Matilda” and then I did bedtime with her.

Jeff is super exhausted tonight, and is already in bed at 9pm, so I’m gonna just cuddle up with my favorite blanket and watch another episode of Survivor! And maybe repaint my fingernails…
