Roasted Garlic Obsession

Addie Pie and I went to the pediatricians office first thing this morning, at 7:45am. She was sweet and silly, but we found out poor girl has strep throat!

And Emerson had a great last day at Mega Sports Camp!

After the doctor’s office, we had to kill some time while we waited for the pharmacy to fill her antibiotic prescription. So we waited by going through the McDonald’s drive-thru, and eating some breakfast in their parking lot. Addie didn’t eat much all day yesterday, but I got her to eat half a biscuit this morning.

Then after a Walmart grocery order pick-up (we absolutely had to have paper towels and diaper cream, so I went ahead and got some groceries, and that should get us through next week now too. I forced her first round of meds on her when we got home, and although it was rough and she was mad, she got over it quickly, and then she was sweet and happy and playful for a couple of hours.

She started playing with this Barbie of Emmie’s, and bent her backwards like this and said, “Yayyy Emmie handstand!” She was making it look like her big sister, and cheering her on! It was so sweet. She also kept looking for Emmie through the house the whole day.

She didn’t really eat lunch, but had a couple bites of snacks, and then she was super tired and went down for her nap very easily. She ended up sleeping for 3 hours, and while she napped, I roasted a whole head of garlic for the first time. Then I squished it out and made roasted garlic mayo, and used it sourdough tomato toast and WOW. It was so incredibly delicious. I’m a *garlic girly* and I don’t know why I’ve never done this before. This is definitely the start of my new roasted garlic obsession.

I watched the first episode of the newest season of “Sweet Magnolias” while I ate, painted my fingernails and then I read for a while. Accidentally fell asleep in the chair for a bit, then read a little more once I woke up.

Today was the closing ceremony for Mega Sports Camp at church, and they were going to put on a little show for the parents. Obviously Jeff and I were both planning on attending originally, but since Addie was contagious, I wasn’t able to go. But luckily, Jeff took tons of photos and videos for me.

When Addie woke up from her nap, she had a few more bites of a couple of snacks, and did some casual bird-watching out the back door.

Addie and I went out to the church to pick up Emerson from camp, and then we went to Publix, so I could buy more garlic and tomatoes, because I couldn’t stop thinking about the roasted garlic all afternoon, and knew I needed to have it again this weekend. So 4 more tomatoes, 4 more garlic bulbs, and another loaf of bake-at-home sourdough, and I’m stocked up. (Also, peep my new books & T-Swift tote bag, which is the most perfect combo of my two main hobbies 😉 )

Emerson always wants to “scale herself” every time we come to Publix. She’s a whopping 38 pounds…

When we got home, the girls actually both took turns having some meltdown about random things I don’t remember. Well, Addie had been fussing and whining a lot most of the afternoon, I’m thinking just because she didn’t feel so good. Jeff wanted pizza for dinner, but he couldn’t decide which one, so he got two different kinds, and brought them both home for all of us for dinner. (Also, peep my new T-Swift water bottle stickers too. I got a small little Temu order this week, if you were wondering.)

Emerson wore her birthday crown that Addie found during diner. And although Addison still didn’t really eat too much, but Emerson legitimately ate three full pieces of pizza. Sometimes we can barely get her to finish just one piece! I myself ate three pieces tonight too, so that means her tiny self ate the same amount of pizza as my not-so-tiny-self ate! haha 🙂

Both girls had more meltdowns after dinner, because everyone was just so tired and exhausted. We had to fight to get Addison’s second round of meds down tonight, but after quite a struggle, we did eventually succeed. So I got her calmed down, and Jeff got Emerson calmed down, and then we switched and cuddled the other girl for bedtime. I’m praying Addie’s sickness passes quickly, and that Emmie doesn’t get it. I’m also praying everyone can get good sleep tonight (especially since I held Addie in the recliner from 2am-6am this morning, and would really like to sleep in my bed all night tonight), because we all need it.
