Ring Baroness

Hotel breakfast was again grab-&-go, so we had to pick it up and take it back to our rooms to eat.

After we all got dressed for the day, the ladies went to the church to host a little bridal luncheon for Mandy. But the men all went to the shooting range, but I don’t have any photos of that…

And this is the craft I’ve been working on! It’s my wedding gift to Aaron & Mandy, but we used it as display for the luncheon today.

This Mandy the Bride (third from left) and her family, plus Aunt Suzanne on the far right, who will be her mother-in-law tomorrow!

And then Mandy and all of our family! Emerson met her once before, when they came to Florida last September, but she really latched on to her today!

Grandmommie and I brought Emerson back to the hotel to nap after lunch, and she actually did really well falling asleep with Grandmommie. So she just held her and she slept for about an hour or maybe a little more.

Then it was time for the rehearsal dinner, back at the church. One of Mandy’s bridesmaids had to back out of the wedding this last week, and so her son the ring bearer was also out. So on our drive up the other day, Aaron asked Emerson to be the new ring bearer! But since she’s a girl, Aunt Suzanne decided she should be called the ring Baroness, and I loved that! 😁

Then we went to a great little restaurant for the rehearsal dinner, that was partly inside an old silo! They were actually closed except for to-go orders due to Coronavirus, but they still let us have the dinner there, and it was so very nice. Great place, and a great meal!

We had a pre-fixe menu of steak and chicken, plus Brussels, salad, the biggest baked potatoes I’ve ever seen, and rolls. I only ate about half of my meal below, but it was delicious. And they were super nice to give Emerson some great chicken tenders and fries from the kids meal. And it was followed by the most delicious derby pie, which is a chocolate pecan pie, topped with ice cream.

Back at the hotel, Emerson needed one more snack, in her backwards night gown. But she didn’t like the apple skin, and we didn’t have a knife to slice it, so Jeff was a good daddy, and just ate the skin off for her, so she could enjoy the white stuff inside. And she loved it! Just look at how she’s lounging in the bed, snacking away, watching a puppy show for a few minutes before bedtime.

And praise the Lord, bedtime was super easy tonight. She gave us all hugs, and then wanted to get straight into her pack-n-play. So I just stood next to her, singing the lullabies, and she was out by the time I finished! It’s 9:37pm here now (Xentral time), so it’s a late bedtime for her, but an early bedtime for me, but we’re all in one dark hotel room. So I’ll just read from my Kindle app on my phone until I’m tired enough to fall asleep. Which will probably not be that long from now…
