Refrigerator Pickles

We went back to a mostly-regular service at church today for the first time in eight months (although we are of course still wearing masks and social distancing), and it was great to be back! I didn’t even take any photos until after church when Emerson requested to eat nuggets in the car.

And for our first day back, of course we just had to be matchy-matchy! I’ve actually had those dress for a few years, and Emerson got hers in the giant lot of hand-me-downs we got back in the summer, and it was perfect!

We got Emerson down for her nap after lunch, and I tried to nap too. I couldn’t sleep though, so I ended up watching a few episodes of “Dash and Lily” on Netflix, which is really cute. Jeff ran out to get our Walmart grocery pick up order, and once he got home we both worked to get everything put away.

I had this giant jar of pickled okra juice left over after I finally finished all the okra, and I thought I’d read to play try my hand at refrigerator pickles. So I sliced up some tiny cucumbers and throw them back in the brine, and I’ll taste them tomorrow and see how they turn out!

I got my monthly growth box in the mail yesterday, but didn’t have time to open it until today. It was chock full of lots of cleaning goodies, including a free tiny sample of face cleanser, and a face mask for myself.

Emerson requested some tattoos today, and we found these fall themed ones that were perfect.

We did a bunch of chores today, like laundry, tiding the living room, working in the kitchen, and Jeff mowed the yard. We also cleaned up Emerson’s room, went through and decided to donate a few of her stuffed animals, and put away a bunch of her clean clothes as well.

Since Anita had so much leftovers last night, she sent us home with an entire pan of chicken enchiladas. I reheated them in the oven, and microwaved the leftover yellow rice, and we had another delicious home cooked meal, but I didn’t have to do anything more than heat up!

Well I was finishing up getting dinner on the table, Emerson was in her room making us some dinner in her kitchen as well, and even brought it to the table.

She actually rolled up a bunch of her yellow rice in the taco shell, and had a rice taco! She ate one whole one, then asked for another one, and ate it all as well.

After dinner, Emerson and Daddy made some chocolate chip cookies, and I threw a couple of sweet potatoes in the oven for some lunches for me this week.

We are talking to cookies and drink a cup of milk, while watching the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special, which Emerson really enjoyed.

I picked out all of her clothes for the week, then read one small bedtime book (and then she read the book to herself one time), and we got her all settled down for bedtime.

I I got my sweet potatoes put away, in the kitchen tidied up a little bit, and let a candle in the living room. It was a pretty chill day, and we got some things done around the house, and I was glad for some time to just rest and take it easy after a few really busy weekends in a row before this one. I’m also looking forward to a short work week, followed by a bunch of food and family!
