First things first – gotta move the ornament on our advent calendar!
And then we had some biscuits for breakfast before church.
We actually went to church at Megan & Bo’s church this morning. My sister directs their childrens’ Christmas musical every year, and our whole family goes to support her and watch the play. This years’ play was exceptionally good. It was both precious and funny and cute all at the same time. We enjoyed it so much, and Megan and her assistant directors did such a great job!
While we were watching the cute kids’ musical, Emmie had a grand ole time back in the nursery with the other kids. (Thank you, Sarah, for the photos!)
And we got to get some triplet baby lovin’! Emmie hugging Ellie…
Kenlsey Hope…
Riley Lynn…
Riley was showing Aunt Halie that she’s learned to crawl in the last week! What a big girl!
Jeff stayed home with a migraine this morning, but Emerson and I loved going to Aunt Meggie & Uncle Bo’s church with the rest of the family! (Uncle Keith also couldn’t make it, since he was teaching his Sunday School class back at our church.)
Emerson also got to see Miss Kayla, which she was thrilled about. Miss Kayla is the pastor’s oldest daughter, and she used to work at Growing Room, but now she is the triplets’ nanny, so Emmie doesn’t get to see her at school anymore, but she loves her so much still!
And look at t his most adorable, most perfect, hand-me-down penguin sweater! Mommy & Emmie both love this sweater.
We went straight home after church, so we could eat a super fast lunch, and get Emmie down for her nap as soon as possible. We had sandwiches and cheddar rice crisps again today, and Emmie ate sooo good.
I got her down for her nap pretty easily, and then made some afternoon tea. I’ve had this Irish breakfast tea for over a year now, but hadn’t ever drank it. My Aunt Jane brought it for me back from her trip to Ireland last summer, but since I didn’t have a loose leaf tea strainer until recently, we hadn’t been able to try it. Also, it’s caffeinated, so I can’t drink it at night. (I’m super sensitive to caffeine, and can’t usually ever have any past like, 3 or 4pm.)
I also gargled with this nasty concoction of apple cider vinegar, honey & warm water, that Elton John swears by for kicking a sore throat. My throat isn’t actually sore, but I’ve done this 4 times in the last week, just to make sure my voice stayed good for the Singing Christmas Tree!
Once Emerson woke up from her nap, we all got dressed really quickly, and headed back up to the church for our final performance of the 2019 Singing Christmas Tree! I had mic check at 3:10, we got Emmie back into the nursery, and then we headed into the choir room for warm-ups.
This is my ensemble below, left to right: Trenton, me, Molly, Jennifer, Amanda, Edi, Kinsley, & Bart. I loved singing with this group so much. Kinsley is in middle school, and Molly is in elementary school, and both of this young ladies held their own with us grown-ups.
I also gave my phone to a friend tonight and asked her to record our ensemble song, and she did a great job videoing. I think we sound pretty good, if you ask me 🙂
This is my new friend Amanda. We knew of each other before the Tree, but didn’t actually know each other. Then she sat next to me at my table on the kick-off night, and then we both got selected for the ensemble together. I had a great time singing with her, and I’m so glad we got to know each other!
Also, if you haven’t noticed, this is my “I have on red lipstick” smile, that I did in all the pictures, otherwise my tiny top lip disappears and I look ridiculous. So this works 😉
We went out to eat with Grammy, Papa & Grandmommie at Red Elephant afterwards, and this sweet little girl just loves her people so much.
But she didn’t like that Papa had put his unwanted salad tomatoes in his mostly-empty dressing cup, so she needed to dump them out into Grammy’s salad. She is a mess.
After our early-ish dinner, we made a quick stop at Jeff’s parents church. They were having their big Christmas dinner, so we came for just a few minutes. Emmie looked so adorable sitting there listening to the Christmas story!
After a quick visit, we headed home to get ready for bedtime. She told me she wanted to keep on her Moana t-shirt (it was under her penguin sweater) plus jammie pants. She was very sweet at bedtime, and it was very easy to put her to sleep.
This has certainly been an exhausting, super busy weekend, but I’m so blessed and grateful to have been able to sing in the Singing Christmas Tree for another year. This is the 16th year our church has done it, and I’ve been in about 14 of those, and this was by far my very favorite one. It was incredible to have so many singers this year, and the music was truly so good. I love singing, and I love my choir, and I love my church!
