Projects & Play Dates

First thing this morning, this little waitress took my order at her coffee shop, and made me a pistachio muffin and a pistachio latte, with her little blue-light glasses 😉

I love how it looks like Pennie is smiling here for this picture too.

I finishe dmy puzzle a couple of nights ago, on Thursday night, but Pennie actually ate one piece, so I only had 499 pieces. Kind of annoying, but I got over it… It still looks so pretty though!

Jeff and Addie ran to Donut Kingdom to grab donuts for our breakfast today, and Addie was clearly getting after that chocolate donut!

After lazing about a bit this morning, we decided to finally tackle a few projects that have been neglected for far longer than I’d actually like to admit. An embarrassingly long time ago, we cleaned out Emerson’s shoes by just throwing them out into the hallway with intentions to separate them out into save/trash/donate, and then never got to that step. But today we finally did!

And ✨AFTER! ✨

Project #2 was this little front door corridor, that we’ve been using as storage closet for again, an embarrassingly long time. So Jeff grabbed his big giant ladder for me, and then Emmie and I took care of the rest. We added some things to the donate pile, and tucked some things away for future DIY projects, then swept and swiffered everywhere.

And ✨AFTER! ✨

This St. Augustine puzzle was the first one I glued and framed a few years back, and I still love it. I found this cute mushroom embroidery at Home Goods a few weeks ago, and I love mushrooms and thought this was just so cute.

I hand-painted lyrics from our wedding song on a canvas way back in 2013, and although it simple and kind of messy, I still love to be reminded of that song and that day and the very beginning of our relationship. (Jeff’s brother Brad played the guitar and sang with my sister Megan, and one of our old friends Len, and we kind of rearranged the original song and the version from Brave, and had them sing it exactly how we wanted it. We’ll have to find our wedding dvd one of these days and digitize it, and maybe I can share that video of them singing in the future.)

Then I also had two cute little helpers cleaning the giant sliding glass door windows, for a little mini project. Well, not really a project, just one of our typical chores, especially now that we have Pennie, who’s always putting her wet, muddy paws on the door when she wants to come back inside.

We took a little creative break, for Emmie to draw a cute little mountain camping picture (she added really cute little tents after I took this picture), and I did a Taylor Swift-themed word search with a giant homemade iced chai.

Project #3 was done by Jeff, cleaning up his storage closet out in the carport, and tidying up the carport too. He didn’t take a “before” pic of things, but he did take this “after” pic, to show how organized it was when he finished.

After Emmie and I finished our little creativity break, I heated up the last of our leftovers from the week for lunch for the girls, and then got Addie down for her nap time. I picked up some Jersey Mike’s subs for Jeff and I for our lunch while he finished his carport project, and then he got showered and cleaned up.

Addie didn’t nap long today, which was fine, since we had some post-nap plans to meet up with one of Emmie’s school friends for a play date. And even though today was technically the last day of summer, and tomorrow will officially be fall, it was HOT out there today.

This is Emmie’s friend from school, Cora. In a very small world situation, she will be having open-heart surgery in October, by the same surgeon, in the same hospital, just like Emerson four years ago. They’ll even be staying at the Ronald McDonald House, just like we did as well. It’s been great connecting with them, being able to walk through this with them, after we went through this exact same journey already.

When we left the park, Emmie and I did a very quick stop at Goodwill to drop off a huge load of donations, and Jeff and Addie picked up our Walmart grocery order. We put the cold stuff away as fast as possible, and then headed out to meet family for dinner.

A new buffet opened up on our side of town, so we invited Grammy, Papa & Grandmommie to hoof it over here to meet us. I actually thought it was going to be a home-style country buffet, but there was actually way more Chinese food than anything else. But hey, it wasn’t what I expected, but it was yummy!

These two little cuties just wanted to sit on the railing and watch their grandparents drive away so sweetly.

I got the girls into the bathtub as soon as we got home, and Jeff worked on switching over the laundry and taking care of Pennie. We got the girls down for bedtime easily, and Jeff is so exhausted from working out in the heat most of the day, he was also asleep by about 8:15pm.

We recently got AppleTV, so I started a new series there tonight (The Morning Show), so I’m going to keep watching this, and re-do my nails, then read a little bit before bedtime.
