Jeff was back on camera duty for livestream at church, so that meant Emerson and I had the morning all to ourselves! We ate breakfast together, and snuggled, and started a load of laundry…
And she saw a worm in the carport while we were outside that she got super interested in.She was squatting down like this looking at it and talking about it, and she was like, “it looks cute, it looks like a sweet one.”
When we were at Grammy & Papa’s house last night, Uncle Bo & Aunt Meggie introduced Emerson to Blippi (the triplets already watch & love him), and Emerson was instantly fascinated. So today, we watched a few more of his videos, and she just sat so still and focused and interested, and it was really sweet.
We cleaned up her room a little bit, and then read lots and lots of books together. Each time I would finish one and stack it on the floor, I asked her, “which one next?” And she would point her little finger at the pile and go, “let’s seeeeee, let’s seeeee…” I thought it was hilarious 🙂
Oh and this was when she was playing doctor while she made me lay in the floor. She told me I needed a red & blue surgery, and then stuffed her unicorn hair brush under my neck…
Jeff brought home lunch after church, and then I put Emerson down for her nap. And then we started priming the cabinet faces! It was kind of slow-going though, especially on the upper parts, and since she only napped for an hour, I hadn’t even finished the first coat before she woke up.
But she sat sweetly watching Blippi again for a bit while I finished up. It helped that I let her have some sugar (M&M’s and a Nutter Butter cookie) and a drink while she watched. (She know’s the difference in snack choices when I tell her something like, “find a snack without a lot of sugar” at bedtime, which means she has to pick something like popcorn or Goldfish, instead of cookies & candy, so the “sugar” was a treat this afternoon.)
After Jeff finished up all the weird high parts of the first coat of primer, we called it quits for a bit so we could play with the Tater Tot girl, and just chill a little bit as a family. She thinks it’s like the best thing ever to ride in the front seat while we pull the car from the carport to the driveway, so it’s like a big deal.
I was trying to get a good photo of this adorable romper from Nana, but she was only slightly cooperative. You can still see how super cute it is, and I especially love those tiny little legs!
Have y’all seen all the hype on Facebook lately for the deep dish pizza from Munchie’s? Well, I mentioned it to Jeff about a week ago, and he got super excited and was like “we have to try that!” I’m not usually a deep-dish fan, but even I thought all the photos looked good. So anyways, we got on the waiting list last week, and tonight was our scheduled pizza-night. (It’s seriously so popular, you message them to get on the wait list, and then they call you back to basically make an appointment!)
So anyways, tonight was our night, so we headed out in the rain a little before 6pm to pick it up. Luckily, they’re less than 10 minutes from our house, so it was easy-peasy, and then we were back home safe & sound. We just got pepperoni deep dish, plus the famous garlic knots.
And YOU GUYS. This was sooo good. I really wasn’t sure what it would be like, but it was way better than I imagined. I think I’d only ever had deep dish from like, Little Caesar’s or something, and this is so not the same thing, and like 100x’s better. Seriously delicious.
After dinner, Emerson got like super crazy hyper, so she was climbing all over Jeff and I, and all over the couch, and using us as jungle gyms, and spinning around on the floor. I have no idea where her crazy burst of energy came from, but she was absolutely cracking me up!
I did finally get her calmed down so we could start our bedtime routine, but we had to read a couple of extra books, which of course was fine by me.
There are a few spots we need to finish getting the first & second coat of primer on. And it appears the top trim pieces have some heavy stain on them, and some yellow-ish color is peeking through the primer. So Jeff grabbed a small pint of the heaviest-duty Kilz primer, that we’ll put a thick coat on all around the top trim. Then, we hope to put the “real color” on all the upper cabinets & faces tonight. Also, you can see a little sneak peak of the blue we are going to put on all the lowers! Eek, so exciting!
So now that we’ve had a small break, we’re getting back up to get working again, before crashing into bed later, utterly exhausted. This project is so tiring! Yesterday I told Jeff that at least all our years long procrastinating because we thought it would be hard, was dead on the money, because this is like, a super tedious project. Especially with a very needy toddler around!
