Power Outage

This sweet little baby girl did absolutely perfect at school drop-off this morning! She wanted to walk herself to her classroom (some days I carry her), so she was holding my hand. While walking, I asked her, “Are you going to be a big girl and go into your class to see your teacher?” And she responded, “Yeah!” When we walked through the classroom door, she just went on in and let go of my hand, and walked straight to Ms. Sheila! I gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, and then she waved bye-bye, and I was so proud of her!

I’m part of this group on Facebook for Trader Joe’s meal ideas, and this one posted this morning just looked amazingly delicious, and I’m now dying to make a Fig & Gorgonzola pizza.

Today’s lunch was a hodge podge of leftovers from last night, plus yogurt and of course some reading. And then right as my lunch break was ending, the power went off in my entire building, plus a few other downtown buildings as well. It was really quiet and pretty dark throughout the building, but luckily I have a big window that let in a good amount of light. I never found out why it happened today, but last time, it was because some construction crews blew a transformer in the Cascades area project. It only took about 40 minutes until we were all up & running again, but since my office is bright from a large window, I got about 40 extra minutes of reading time!

Emerson had a good day at school, and the parent app even said she napped for 2 hours and 17 minutes!

Famiky dinner was at Blaze pizza tonight, and it was so yummy. I did a BYO with meatballs, red onion, roasted red peppers, red sauce, mozzarella & ricotta, and man it was so good. Plus, I’m kind of obsessed with their blood orange lemonade, so I had two cups of that.

Of she still wanted to ride with “Gammy” in the Jeep from dinner to church, and who can blame her?!

Then she “drove” mommy’s car for a quick bit, and ran through the grass for a few minutes, before heading inside for church.

After church, I spent a few minutes chatting with a couple ladies in the choir who are nurses, getting some advice about my eyes, as they’ve been kind of red & bothersome for a couple of days. They think it isn’t actually pink eye, and just advised I try some lubrication drops for the redness and dryness. So I started with that tonight when I got home.

While I was chatting, Daddy & Emmie were wandering around the grounds, exploring all the things. When I found them, they were standing hand-in-hand, watching birds pass over the church in a flying V. The birds were cool, and these two were cute!

By the time bedtime rolled around, over an hour later than usual, she was a bit cranky and cantankerous, and put up quite the fight. She wanted a snack, and she wanted it on the couch, and she wanted all the things, but none of the bedtime things, and it was just all too much. We compromised and did a few bites of a small snack, in the chair in her bedroom, and then it took about 15 minutes of rocking before she was calm and ready to lay down in her bed.

Poor little thing. Wednesday’s are just so long, and it’s just hard on her by the time we make it to the end of the day.

Now it’s time for one episode of “Fringe,” before attempting slightly early-ish bedtime.
