So, my usually-super-sweet baby girl woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, and was quite grumpy and whiny. She wouldn’t even let me take our customary morning photos, and I only got this one before she ran away from me. Poor nugget was just not feeling it this morning!
I started this random new audio book yesterday, because I was just looking for something light and easy. Turns out, it’s about a giant hurricane that hits a tiny island in the Keys, and the surrounding hoopla and romance and stuff. It’s a little annoying so far (why do these romances always have to be so overly dramatic, but in a dumb, almost immature way? well, it’s my own fault because I chose the book!), but anyways, I thought it was ironic that I started a book yesterday about hurricanes, on the first day of hurricane season…
Even though Emerson was a little grumpy this morning, we got these photos of her relatively early in the day, being a cute little happy girl on the playground!
Jeff and I continued our June walking challenge, but upped our distance by a tiny bit from 1.55 yesterday to 1.8 today. Going for a full 2 miles tomorrow!
Emerson insisted on chips for her after school snack, and since her little whiny attitude was back, I just let her go for it. And while I got started in the kitchen, she watched some of her little kid song videos, and ate the whole bag!
We had roasted red potatoes (with carrots, onions, and garlic in olive oil), that I got from the produce stand last Saturday, and this turned out soooo good. This is definitely my current favorite way to make these potatoes. (I used to just cook them diced up in a skillet, but this is way better.)
And we had the delicious Bleu cheese chicken burgers with the potatoes, which are always super good, even though the Bleu cheese in the fridge had fuzz on it, so we couldn’t use it, and went with shredded fiesta cheese instead.
I can’t even remember what she’s was doing, but she was making funny faces, and she had this stuff on her teeth, and she was just so hilarious!
My little helper really wanted to go out and do more yard work tonight, but we had a late dinner and it was almost bed time, so I just let her play around for a few minutes in the grass.
Then Jeff got set up to work on replacing the motion-sensor lights out front, changing out the old janky ones, for newer, more energy-efficient, brighter, better-working ones.
So while Jeff worked outside, Emmie and I did her bedtime routine, and read the Little Golden Book version of Moana.
Jeff is almost finished up outside, and then we’ll have much better lights in the yard. I got all the dishes washed and the kitchen cleaned and the leftovers put up in the fridge. I’ve been watching “Clueless” on Netflix while blogging, and wow, what a throwback, right!?
