A little false Florida winter showed up today, and it was 41 degrees first thing this morning! So obviously last night we laid out pants, long-sleeved shirts, jackets, boots & socks. The girls were warm and cozy and ready for the day!
Jeff was up early at his hotel in Nashville, to get an early morning Uber to the airport, to fight all the crowds from his conference and the CMA’s last night. He flew to Atlanta first, and then on to Tally, and landed here right at 4pm. Luckily, his Dad was able to go pick him up for us, and then Jeff actually went straight to surprise the girls by picking them up.
I didn’t have many good options at home to bring to work for lunch today, so I picked up food from Lugo’s Burritos food truck, which was parked right in our parking lot. I got the chicken fajita quesadilla & chips & salsa – it was all delicious, but it was so filling and I was stuffed.
I had extra coffee in the pot this week, since I couldn’t make a small enough pot for only one person. So I poured some of the leftovers in a jar to save in the fridge, and then brought that, and a tiny jar of creamer to the office. Then I just heated up the coffee this afternoon when I needed a little perk.
Emerson’s class at school had a “pie party” today, with pizza pie for lunch, followed by a taste-testing of chocolate pie, pecan pie, and pumpkin pie.
Addison has been working on the letter “O” this week. She learned about otters one day, so we watched a video about otters tonight after bath.
The last time I made Swedish meatballs, I saved and froze the leftovers, with plans to use it this week while Jeff was out of town. Well then we ended up having two meals out with family, and I didn’t need to cook until tonight, but that still worked out perfectly. I had thawed them in the fridge this week, so I just dumped them in a pot on the stove to heat up. I also added a bit more cream, broth & seasonings, to freshen it up, and this re-heated very well. Still super tasty!
While I was making the dinner plates, this girl whine and complained and said, “I only want mashed ‘tatoe’s!” And then proceeded to eat every single meatball first thing, and even asked for more.
The girls got all cleaned up in the bath, and then put on fresh jammies again. Addie wanted more of her dinner while watching the video about otters, and then proceeded to clean her plate.
These sweet girlies were just very glad to have their Daddy home, as was I! He kept asking about stuff, or what we did or didn’t do around the house, and I just kept answering, “Babes, we were just surviving this week!” We didn’t have time for much of anything other than the basics, but we made it through and we actually had a pretty decent week. But still, we’re glad to have him back at home with us 🙂
Emerson picked out another Anne Frank book in her school library today, and read that to herself at bedtime, while I just sat quietly next to her, marveling over my cute little bookworm girl.
Since Jeff picked up the girls this afternoon, I went straight home from work. As the meatballs were heating up on the stove, I was able to wash up the dishes and clean up the kitchen. As I said earlier, we were just surviving this past week, and things were quite messy in there. But I got a lot done, and now there are just the few dishes from dinner, but those will wait for another day… Now, your girl needs some rest!
But first, tea time for two and “Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire.”
