Pink Pajamas

Today was pajama day at school, and they had little “breast cancer awareness month” parties this afternoon with pink lemonade and cookies. So we chose to wear pink jammies specifically, for breast cancer pink. (Since I haven’t mentioned it on here recently, and just in case you don’t know, both my Mama and Aunt Suzanne are breast cancer survivors, so it means a lot in our family!)

Today’s drop-off went slightly smoother again today, although there were definitely still some tears shed from my Tater Tot. She helped the triplets get to their classroom once they got there, and I’m sure that helped cheer her up again as well.

This was her “Yay for pajama day!” move…

For lunch, I had the leftover chili from last night and started a new Kindle book. This book is number 12 in an ongoing mystery series about the head of homicide in Quebec, and a cute tiny village nearby. And all of the books are incredible. Of the 12 I’ve read already (there was a little novella as book #6.5, so thta’s why I say I’ve already read 12, but I’m currently reading #12…), I rated 10 of them at 4 stars. They’re seriously really good. They’re great mysteries, but not scary or gory or anything like that.

Emmie had a good day at school, wearing her jammies, hanging out with her friends, doing arts & crafts.

Those clouds looked so neat on the drive home today!

I had thawed out some frozen salmon filets for dinner tonight, and had planned to just throw some garlic and S&P on them to bake. But at the last minute, I decided to make my own kind of sauce/marinade, using butter, garlic, honey & fresh-squeezed lime juice, and it turned out soooo good! Plus white rice and fresh steamed broccoli, and everything was delish! I was honestly very impressed with and proud of myself for this one.

Emerson tried the salmon but didn’t like it, but girlfriend went to town on the broccoli! I actually had a very small head of broccoli, so there wasn’t much to go around, so Jeff and I both ended up taking a few pieces out of our own bowls to give to her, because she kept asking for more! And of course you know she ate plenty of rice too. (Also, her jammies was soaked when I picked her up from school, from the water fountain, so we put on  yesterday’s dress so she wouldn’t be wet & cold.)

After she said she was done, we took our stuff to the counter to get cleaned up, but she decided she wanted more rice. So I scooped her a tiny bit more onto her plate. She also saw the fresh veggies I had prepped earlier for my lunch & snack tomorrow, and she decided she needed a few of the carrots too.

Daddy handled bath time while I made some more rice (to go with the leftover salmon for more lunches), cleaned up the kitchen, and washed the dishes. She came out running around in the dino towel, roaring at me and being a baby dino herself. I’m not really sure what she’s cutting those eyes about here, but she looks pretty cute and funny 🙂

Even after all the rice & broccoli she had for dinner (plus some crackers for a snack right when we got home), she was still hungry and wanted another bedtime snack. She picked a bag of Cheetos, and I assumed she’d eat about half of it, but she just went for it, and ate the whole bag!

She was sweet and easy at bedtime, and I was very glad for that. I’m also grateful I did all the dishes and cleaning earlier, so now that I’ve finished writing this post, I get to just settle in for some relaxing time on the couch.
