It appears at this point, we’re just destined to wake up at 6:30 every weekend for the next 10-ish years I guess… I mean, she’s cute, but I wouldn’t be mad about sleeping in a bit longer.
I baked a can of Pillsbury Cinammon rolls, with strawberry icing, which were better than I was expecting.
She has still been singing “Jesus Loves Me” all week long, and we’ve found a fun little animated version on YouTube that she likes. This morning we watched a few other kids church songs, and she was really liking them. She brought this little stool from the kitchen, and just stood there on it watching and singing along.
She played with a few things…
And then we went to the park! Jeff went to the Florida State game with his friend from work, Ed, so Emerson and I had a little Mommy-Daughter date on the playground! She had so much fun, and she went down the three different slides probably 30 times.
We also went for a short little walk down the boardwalk (the same one we walked last week) but that only lasted for a few minutes, and then she wanted to go back to the slides.
After an hour or so, we were both hot and exhausted, so we grabbed a couple of cheeseburgers and shared some fries.
I got her down for her nap after lunch, made myself an iced coffee, and then settled in one of my cozy chairs to read for a bit. I thought I would just read for a little bit and then watch TV, but then I got really into it, and read the entire time she napped. (Which was only like an hour and 10 minutes today.) This is one of the best coffee options for busy moms – make a full pot in the morning, drink half a cup, then run around with your toddler and forget to drink the rest. Then a few hours later once it’s cooked down, add it to ice, hazelnut creamee & (my preference) Splenda, add a paper straw, an bam! Delicious coffee, finally, while you toddler naps. So I also made myself a second iced coffee while I read.
After her short nap, she once again brought her stool over to the snack cabinet to grab herself what she wanted. Today, that was pretzel Goldfish.
Then we ran to our favorite thrift store fo books and records (The Living Harvest on Tharpe Street), where we found nine $1 records, and one 50¢ paperback book. And even though we didn’t buy it, I was proud of Emmie for finding The Babysitters Club.
We stopped to get some pink lemonade from this stand on the corner of Tharpe an Old Bainbridge, and it was ice cold and delicious, and toddler-approved.
We met Nana at Home Depot to help her pick out a few things, and then went to their house. She spent the morning painting their dining room, and then Jeff hung her new light fixture. Tomorrow, we will help paint the living room too, and I can’t wait to see how all the updates look!
No one felt like cooking, so we went to Village Inn and all ordered breakfast for dinner. When we were walking in, the wind was blowing, and Emerson said, “breeze feels nice.” Just all nonchalant, like it was such a casual comment. But I’d never heard her say anything like thatz, as I was so impressed!
Emmie’s kids meal breakfast came with a little tub of butter, and she dipped ev.er.y.thing in it – pancakes, eggs, & bacon, all got dipped in her butter 😂 But she ate like a champ, so I was fine with it! And plus, she’s still in like 3rd percentile for weight, so the girl can afford to eat all the butter she wants!
We came home after dinner to put on PJ’s (bath postponed until tomorrow morning since it was late), and get ready for bed. I also put on my jammies (a nightgown with camels on it), and she was just all about it tonight, counting them, and point them all out…
She was actually pretty easy to get to sleep tonight, so I was very thankful for that. Today was a great day! And now it’s looking more and more like the panhandle will not get hit by Hurricane Dorian, so I’m very grateful for that! And we still have two more days of weekend fun, which I’m excited for!
