Both of my girls were looking especially beautiful this morning, wearing some fancy church dresses! (Emerson was showing off that little card she made and brought to give away to a friend.)
And Nana joined us at church this morning as our special guest, while her husband is on sabbatical this summer (he’s a pastor at another local church in town) and out of town this weekend.
We had a great morning at Sunday school and worship, and were excited to head back to one of our favorite lunch places with the family, The Wharf.
Addie was exhausted all during lunch, and was out like a light within just a minute or tow of getting into the car afterwards.
Then Emerson went with Nana to a little water day even they were having at their church, and we went home to get Addie down for a nap, and work on some chores, since we didn’t do any chores around the house yesterday. But Emerson had a blast and made some new friends, and was practically the last kid there apparently.
I actually ended up taking a little nap because I couldn’t even hold my eyes open, and Addison slept for about 2.5-ish hours or so. We had a little playtime together after naptime, and Jeff worked on some of the chores for us, like laundry & dishes. Addie also tried out her little snack cup for the first time. It took her a while to get used to it, but she got the hang of it, and seemed to really enjoy toting that around with her.
Nana brought Emerson back home to us late this afternoon (she got to skip naptime today!), and then we all loaded up to go on a grocery shopping trip to Aldi together. We got some stuff at Costco yesterday, so we just got stuff to round it all out for the week. Addie thought opening up the fridge door there was hilarious, and she did it like this about five times, just smiling and giggling the whole time.
We had a take-&-bake pizza for dinner tonight for Jeff and I, a Lunchable for Emmie, and I made a little snacky plate for Addie with meat, cheese, fruit & corn. And then we all had more of the fresh pineapple Nana cut yesterday, and it was honestly the very best pineapple I’ve ever had. (In this first photo, Emmie was doing the motions to the VBS songs we were listening to.)
Emmie wanted to do the Spongebob puzzle we got from Goodwill yesterday, and the two of us finished out little little 100-piece puzzle in just about 10 minutes. Honestly, she could have totally done this whole thing on her own, and she wants to do that next time to show me. (Unfortunately, it was already missing that corner piece, but that’s what happens when you buy it second-hand.)
After finishing up the puzzle, it was time to get the girls going on bedtime, especially since Emerson hadn’t had a nap today. (She was actually great tonight, even without a nap, and was still really sweet and not grouchy.) We got those little Danimals yogurt drinks again today that she loves, so she had one of those while we read her bedtime book, twice.
Jeff of course rocked Addie to sleep very easily, and got her laid down in her crib easily as well. Emmie was sound asleep just minutes after we left her room, and has been asleep for over an hour now.
I spent about 15-20 minutes after getting the girls in bed, working on my puzzle. It’s now been THREE WEEKS working on this thing, and we’re finally just now almost at 50-ish percent. I’m gonna go back and work on some more of this now, and hopefully I can get more of the grassy part finished up…
Earlier tonight I made a giant Greek salad for myself to take for my work lunch tomorrow, and I’m already excited about that, because it’s going to be delicious. We need to pack the girls’ bags to get ready for school, and also wash up some bottles and sippy cups, and then we’ll just sit down and rest a bit, and find something on tv to watch before bedtime.
