Another beautiful sky/sunrise this morning (even through my not-so-clean front windshield.)
And a cute, bundled-up, warm baby girl before school, sticking out that little tongue, looking as cute as ever.
And happy to eat her blueberry muffin for 1st breakfast! (They give them a hot meal every day {today was waffles}, but she always wants this first.)
I had some leftover pasta for my lunch today, and started reading a new Kindle book from the library, “Last Christmas in Paris.” I’ve actually heard this book is excellent as an audio book, which of course you know I would love, but the library only has the Kindle version, not the audio, and I know from experience if you request a different format of a book they already have, they won’t order it… So alas, I’ll have to settle for actually reading the Kindle version, instead of only listening to it. (Although, y’all should already know I’m totally in the camp of “audio books definitely count as “real” reading.)
For dinner tonight, I just did NOT feel like cooking. Mostly because all of last night’s dishes were still cluttering up the kitchen (wasn’t in the mood for dealing with it all then), but also, I just didn’t wanna cook. I know y’all feel like that sometimes too.
We had leftover Chinese food in the fridge from Saturday night, and I didn’t want that to go to waste, so I also made a bag of Trader Joe’s veggie fried rice to go with it. Emmie had an entire leftover-smorgasbord, including some of her most-loved foods: quesadilla, cheeseburger slider, and lo mein noodles. And it was a perfectly yummy and acceptably lazy dinner 😉 We had way too much though, and none of us could finish all of our food.
We got the noodle-queen cleaned up after dinner, and into her nice, warm jammies. I’ve had this Christmas book of hers in the top of her closet for the past year, and she has noticed it occasionally, and I’ve always told her it wasn’t time to get it down yet. Tonight, she saw it again and said, “Christmas book, Mommy!” I said, “You’re right Emmie, now’s the perfect time to get that book down!” So we took it to the living room and cuddled up together under my robe, and we sang every single song!
This photo below looks very sweet, and it was a good hug, but she was looking up at the snack cabinet behind the couch, whispering in my ear, “I want my Woody gummies,” which are the new Toy-Story-themed gummies we got at Fresh 4 Less yesterday 🙂
So while we were hanging out on the couch, Jeff was petting Pretzel, and Pretzel sneezed in his face. Jeff said something like, “ew, not in my face dude!” And Emmie loved it! She kept repeating dude over and over randomly, and then was petting Pretzel saying, “he’s a nice dude.” We then tried to teach her to say, “You got it, dude,” like Michelle Tanner from Full House, but she kept saying, “I got it, dude!”
And she did eventually settle down with Daddy to eat her Woody gummies.
When it was time to go to bed, she didn’t want to settle down and she didn’t want Daddy to leave for lullabies, so to distract her, we decided to name the penguin on her jammies. We settled on Penny, and she loved it. We both then gave Penny night-night kisses, and then she was ready for lullabies.
And once again, as I was rocking her to sleep and singing her lullabies, she popped up and quietly said, “grasshopper.” I just can’t with this little weirdo!
I made myself wash all the dishes from last night, plus the other random things that always accumulate, by setting a 20-minute timer and doing as much as possible. It only left one baby bib, a serving spoon, and some silverware. (The silverware always gets left for last, because it’s the worst to wash.) After finishing up, I decided to share my fancy tea with my hubby, and made us both a mug of the pina colada tea from Aunt Jane.
So now it’s time to curl up with my cozy robe, my hot tea, and my hubby!
