Penguin Sweater

Today was supposed to be “ugly sweater day” for Addison at school. But we’ve only got cute sweaters around here, including this hand-me-down penguin sweater. I told her I wanted to take her picture in front of the Christmas tree, and she just walked over and plopped right down in front of it like this!

Jeff actually took Addie to school today, so that I could have a break and just stay home in my jammies early this morning. On his way home, he wanted to treat us to Shipley’s, so obviously Emmie and I were okay with that idea.

Last year, I took a photo of Emerson finding Sheppy every single morning. I haven’t done that this year, but today I really liked his spot in the wreath up there, so I wanted to share that 🙂

After breakfast, Emerson wanted to take another long bath again. So I got her all set up again with her color tabs (to change the color of the water) and her Kindle on a stool, and girlfriend stayed in there for almost an hour. I watched an entire episode of Survivor while she was in there, and had to go back twice to warm up her water, because it was cooling off but she wasn’t ready to get out.

Afterwards, she put on some clean jammies, and then she wanted to watch Survivor with me, all curled up in my blanket, cuddly & cozy.

Then we did some more coloring and art projects together (can’t share the final project because it’s a gift). Then when it was time for Jeff’s lunch break, the three of us all had a hodge podge of leftovers and finished watching “The Santa Claus,” which we started yesterday.

Then all afternoon was a mix of being kind of lazy and chill, and playing lots of random made-up games. Like, she kept wanting me make up Survivor challenges for her to complete around the house, so she could win the individual immunity necklace, then she would write down a name at tribal council. So we were just really doing all sorts of random play times, and she loved it. But I didn’t take any pictures during all that play….

At daycare, Addie had herself a good day at school, coloring and playing with her little friends.

Eventually, her and I both got dressed after staying in our jammies until 4pm. We made a quick run to Dollar Tree, and then went to school to pick up Addison.

When we got back home, Jeff took the girls for a walk, while I cooked dinner.

Last night was a nice homemade quiche with cheese I shredded myself… and tonight was all basically just pre-made & frozen foods 😉

Emerson was super easy to get to bed tonight, even a little bit earlier than usual. (She probably needed a nap today, but we didn’t; but maybe she’ll take a nap tomorrow.) But Addison on the other hand fought sleep for over an hour, and didn’t finally fall asleep until almost 9pm, after I fought and struggled to hold her in the “sleeper hold” until she finally gave in.

Jeff already put himself to bed early tonight, so I’m going to settle in and get cozy, and finish up another season of Survivor tonight…
