Pencil Skirt

Emerson was up early again, ready and excited to get dressed for another day of kindergarten. We’ve had this hand-me-down “pencil skirt” dress for a couple of years now, but it was too big. And then when she got to the point it would fit, I purposefully wanted to save it for when she started big girl school. And I’m so glad we did, because it was just perfect for her first week of school. I also think I did a great job on her hair again today, and she looked so beautiful!

And then of course we have little Miss Addison looking so cute her hand-me-downs as well, this romper that used to be Emmie’s. It’s hard to tell, but if you look closely it has tiny squirrels and acorns and fall leaves on it (as well as flowers, birds & butterflies), so it’s just perfect for back to school in the fall too. And who knows who she was waving to!?

Although we did all the drop-offs together yesterday, from here on out I’ll take Addison to school on my way to work, and Jeff will take Emerson to school, before coming back home (yes, he’s still WFH permanently). Driving away from Emmie and Jeff in the carport this morning was almost as tough as leaving her at school yesterday, and made me sad & emotional again, that I won’t be the one dropping her off anymore, after doing it daily for the past five years…

Jeff had made Emerson’s sandwich for her, and then while he took a shower and got dressed after I left, Emerson took it upon herself to finish packing up her little lunch box. Look how good she did! She’s just TOO big and grown up these days. She did all of that by herself, and Jeff only went back and added the ice packs, since she couldn’t reach them in the freezer. Ugh, she’s just too sweet & adorable.

Couple of pictures of Addie at school today…

Jeff said the drop-off line this morning was super long, and it took them 30 minutes to make it through. (Tomorrow, they’re going to park across the street and walk over.) Yesterday’s pick-up line took me about 20 minutes, even hours after school dismissal, since she’s doing after school care. Then today, I only sat in the line for about 3 minutes until I got to the front, but then I sat there waiting on her for like 10 minutes. I eventually had to park and walk inside, because apparently they didn’t hear them call her name, so I had to aske them to get her for me. (I’m going to try it reverse next week, and get Addie first, to see which way works best.) I know it’s only the second day of school, but I’m really hoping these things start to even out once everyone gets back into the groove, so that it won’t take so stinking long!

Meggie and the triplets got to love Addie on the buggy when they got picked up. Look at those adorable tiny piggytails!

When we got home only about 10 minutes later than usual, and I got started on some Thai chicken curry & veggies for dinner. These is one of our favorite meals, and it always turns out so good. It’s literally like, perfect, restaurant-quality coconut curry.

While I was cooking dinner, Jeff was running around carrying both girls over his shouler’s like a “sack-a-tata’s.”

Last night, we moved Addison out of the gigantic booster seat, and into the smaller seat the Emerson used for so long. She looks so cute and big sitting there, but she did so well, even eating off of her little suction-cup plate. Grammy was surprised when we called her later, but both girls loved the curry, and ate it all!

Jeff was getting ready to head out to Walgreens for some children’s allergy meds for Emmie (she’s been kinda sniffly this week), but Addie didn’t want him to leave, so she got to go with him. Not sure what this little face was about that she’s making though…

And this is what her crazy hair looked like when I took out her teeny tiny pigtails before bedtime.

Emerson has this little mermaid book memorized, after we’ve read it hundreds of times, so she “read” it to Addison tonight.

Then Jeff scooped up Addison to get her ready for bed, and Emerson and I went through all of our usual bedtime routine stuff.

We have TONS of dirty dishes piled up in the sink, so Jeff and I have plans to tag-team them together, to try to get as many done tonight as possible, and then try to settle down and get a little down time before bed.
