We got to “sleep in until 8am” today, and since I went to bed shortly after 10pm last night, that was actually a great amount of sleep! Praise the Lord for small miracles! We had donuts for breakfast and got in a good bit of cuddling on the couch. We got yesterday’s mail, and found a birthday card for Emerson from her Sunday School teachers, with two sheets of stickers that she had to use right away.
Then we just did some regular ole play time, with PJ Masks on in the background.
For Mother’s Day this year, Megan and I “gifted” Mama a girls’ lunch and mani/pedi time, but all the restaurants and salons were closed (or mostly closed), so we did it as an IOU. And today she finally cashed it in! We met up for lunch at Peppers (Mom’s favorite food is Mexican), and then to our favorite nail spa (Royal Nail in Midtown) for some nice pampering. It was great to just have girl time together, but also really relaxing getting a pedicure in that vibrating massage chair. It was however very strange to have to wear our masks the entire time in the nail salon!
Jeff had done lunch and nap time with Emmie while I was out, and I picked up our Walmart grocery order on the way home. Emerson actually napped for an unprecedented (lately) 2.5 hours toady, and woke up just a few minutes before I got back home. She helped Daddy do some laundry, and then we all loaded up in the car. (OH, and Nana had picked up the boys earlier to take them shopping for new tennis shoes, and they were still out & about with her.)
This is one of her new outfits Ms. Q gave her for her birthday, and she’s such a little cherry diva!
And you’ll be super surprised to learn we had to go back to Home Depot today… Right?! But we did get the little clippy-things to make the cabinet doors close all the way. Emerson was very entertained by these two fans they had out, and I didn’t mind standing in front of those giant fans myself!
Jeff started working on the little cabinet clip things when we got back home, and Emmie and I worked on tidying up the living room and vacuuming the carpet, and then we tidied up in her room a little bit too.
Nana brought the boys back home, and then we all decided to go out to dinner. We tried to go to Five Guys, because Google said they were open for dine-in, but they weren’t, so we ended up across the street at 4 Rivers instead, which was definitely not a bad subsitute!
I tried to bribe her with an early birthday present, if she would pee in the potty. She sat there for at least 10 minutes, but nothing. I made her drink a ton of my super cold ice water, and she still wouldn’t go. She had also drank tons of Sprite at dinner, but it didn’t help…
I was holding the present in my lap right in front of her, and she kept tapping the box and really wanting to open it, but she wouldn’t go, so she didn’t get to open it. Do you guys see how difficult this is? If we can’t bribe her with food or gifts, and we can’t threaten her with time-out’s or no videos, then what can we possibly do to get this girl to pee at home?!
We read a Pinkalicious book for bedtime, she gave me super sweet cuddles, and then she just wanted me to hold her quietly instead of singing lullabies, which was also precious too. (And it was actually really good for me too, because I was a bit over-stimulated tonight myself.)
Bedtime went smootly, and she was a sweet little nugget. No dishes to wash, or chores to handle tonight, so we’re jumping back into our current Star Wars movie, of which we only made it about an hour before I was falling asleep on the couch last night.
