Painting Toenails

So at the dinner last night, our plastic utensils were tucked inside these tiny Santa hats. I brought mine home, and gave it to Emerson this morning. She thought it was so cute and funny.   She stuck it on her tiny toes and then her tiny fingers, and was kissing it. So weird and silly!

We dropped her off with Grandmommie and Aunt Suzanne first thing this morning, so they could take care of her while we went back to the church for our first real SCT rehearsal. (Reminder – SCT = Singing Christmas Tree.)

We had tiny quiche and pigs-in-a-blanket, along with cute Christmas cookies for a little buffet breakfast at choir this morning. And then we had a few really great hours of rehearsing our new music. These are truly the best songs we’ve ever sung. We also have almost triple the amount of singers as we had last year! Last year we had 48. This year, we made a goal to get 100. And there are officially 125 people signed up! (There were 91 people there just this morning.) With the best music, and so many singers, this will honestly be the best Tree yet! Mark it on your calendars now, because you need to attend.

Meanwhile, Emmie had a super yummy home-cooked breakfast, and had so much fun playing with Aunt Suzanne and Grandmommie! Aunt Q had even bought her some new Lego’s and a funny little toy that vibrates and shakes and hops about, and Emmie just loved it!

We picked her up after choir was finished, and headed home for nap time. She was being really sweet, holding her little lamby, giving him kisses.

Emerson had lunch before we picked her up, so once we got home, I was able to just immediately get her down for a nap. I put her down right at 1:25, and then she proceeded to sleep for three. full. hours. We hardly knew what to do with ourselves for so long! We grabbed subs for our lunch, and watched the final two episodes of “Fringe.” It’s all over now. And y’all, I honestly sobbed. I was crying like a baby. But it was so good. I’m gonna miss those people! (Jeff and I frequently joke when we’re deep into tv shows about our “friends” and the things they do. And now it feels like we’ll miss these friends of ours!)

I also took some time to “stage” this photo for a “bookstagram” photo on IG.  I actually listened to this as an audio book (a few months ago), and really, really enjoyed it. I still had the library book on my holds list, so when it came through, I picked it up, even though I didn’t plan to re-read, but knew I wanted to take a photo to share. Also, after listening to the book, I read the author was inspired by Fleetwood Mac. I had never listened to them before, so I popped into Google, and listened to “Rumors.” I immediately LOVED it so very much. And I’ve been listening to it as my go-to choice since then. I love it so much, I bought one of the original vinyl albums off eBay, to listen to on my Grandparents’ hand-me-down record player from the 1970’s, and it’s awesome. Definitely five stars for this book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Once Emerson woke up from her super long afternoon nap, we made a grocery run to Publix. Miss Priss wouldn’t ride in the buggy, and she didn’t want to walk, she only wanted Mommy to carry her for most of the time. So that was tricky and interesting. But towards the end, she finally wanted to get down and walk. And finally she was in a great mood, and dancing around and being so silly! Daddy decided to dance with her, and they were just so cute. And she loves getting weighed on our way out the door.

She was still really clingy to me once we got home, so Jeff was in charge of putting away all the groceries and doing dinner. Meanwhile, Emmie and I were playing, and I said out loud, “I really need to paint my toe nails later tonight.” And Emerson was like, “we paint Emmie’s toes?” So I said sure why not?! So we did! She sat so calm and patient, and was really sweet and excited about it. (It doesn’t look all that great, but she doesn’t mind!)

We had some baked fish fillets and sweet potato waffle fries (with Caesar salads for the grown-ups), and it was really easy (for Jeff), and really yummy!

She couldn’t wait to get down and play after dinner, and she did a little bit of everything while waiting on us to finish.

And then it was bath night!

And we found some new jammies to wear tonight.

And then she requested a snack before bedtime, so we broke out the new caramel rice crisps we got at Publix earlier.

I asked if she was cozy sitting in her little chair, and she was like, “wait, robe!” Then walked over to grab her bath robe, before settling back down and watching a few minutes of a movie.

And loving on Pretzel!

We ate on disposable plates tonight, and baked the food on foil-lined trays, so there are barely any dishes, that I’m just going to procrastinate and deal with tomorrow. After finishing and sobbing over “Fringe” earlier, we decided we need to just watch a light, funny movie tonight as a palate cleanser. And then we have to find ourselves a new show to watch! Send us some of your favorite recommendations! (We have Netflix, Hulu & Prime.) Going to go paint my own toenails now!
