One More Sick Day

Addie and the triplet girls were very excited to see each other this morning at daycare drop-off!

Ellie wasn’t feeling the photos though, but I did get a half picture of her hugging Addison.

And sweet little helper Riley wanted to carry Addie’s bag, even though it was super full and very heavy.

Since Emmie had a fever super early yesterday morning, she had to have one more sick day at home, before heading back to school tomorrow. (She has to be fever-free for 48 hours, and luckily she hasn’t one since 5am Sunday morning.) So I stayed home with her today. We had breakfast sandwiches together, then did all of our favorite calm things – movies, puzzles, and water color painting.

I made her a sandwich for lunch at her request, and I had my leftover Blaze Pizza from the other night, which was still super delicious, re-heated in the air-fryer.

We didn’t have nap time today, but we did have some calm, “feet off the floor time” watching a movie together. Then we needed some fresh air, so we went outside in the hammock in the front yard. Emmie brought a snack, and a book, and we stayed out there together for about an hour.

She got tired of the book, but I ended up reading the whole thing myself. It was only a little 100-page comic book, and it was a cute little magical fantasy story about taking care of the ocean.

Emmie had some more tablet time when we came back inside, while I washed dishes, and then put some chicken in the instant pot to get it started for dinner time.

Few pictures of Addie at school…

Jeff had put together this little princess tent when Emmie and I left to go pick up Addie from school, and both girls were very excited to get in it and play when we got home.

I finished up our quick and easy dinner by shredding the chicken, boiling the noodles, and zapping the jarred alfredo sauce. Skipped a salad or garlic bread, just because I didn’t feel like dealing with it. Both girls ended up having giant meltdowns right as we were trying to get dinner on the table, and things really just went downhill from there.

Jeff ended up having to wander around with Addie trying to get her to calm down, and Emmie had to run back inside to go to the bathroom (after she had calmed herself down), and I ended up eating most of dinner by myself.

Emmie did end up finishing her dinner eventually, but Addie didn’t eat anything. I got both girls in the bathtub, and they did alright in there, but it was still a bit of dramatic, emotional chaos. Addie finally calmed down once she was dressed and cuddled up with daddy, getting some bedtime milk. Emmie also finally settled down with some couch cuddle time, and then we started an early bedtime routine for both of them.

Both girls were completely asleep by 8pm (actually, I just realized you can see Jeff’s phone in the pic above says 7:59pm), which was about 30 minutes earlier than usual for Addison, and about 60 minutes earlier than usual for Emerson. But clearly, both of these munchkins were just exhausted and needed sleep!
