New Pink Tennis Shoes

So after being off of our normal schedule for the last six days, Emerson was a little confused about what was happening today. Between last night and this morning, she probably asked about 30 times what she was doing today and whyyy she was going to school today.

But we found her a brand new pair of these adorable pink tennis shoes from Walmart (that we first got her last summer, but bought now in a bigger size), and she was super excited to wear them today!

As I was dropping her off at school, she had her finger up her nose. So Ms. Sheila took her straight to the bathroom to wash her hands, and Emerson was showing her all of the pink bows on her outfit – shorts, shirt & hair!

We forgot last night’s leftovers at Nita’s house, so Jeff ran over there to pick them up at lunch, and then dropped mine off at my office. (I can’t remember if I said this before or not, but Jeff’s entire building is being forced to self-quarantine for 14 days, because one of their employees was exposed to someone who tested positive for coronavirus, so he’s teleworking for the next two weeks. Meanwhile, I still have to go into the office everyday, because my Department doesn’t have the resources to give us all laptops, and we’re not allowed to use our home computers. Womp womp womp…)

A lot of kids are being kept home from daycare, so there are fewer of her friends at school, but she still had a GREAT Day! It looks like she really enjoyed this book, and some arts & crafts time. And then she peed in the potty three times today, and had zero wet diapers!!!

I AM SO PROUD OF HER!! I was worried that being away from school for so long and not practicing her potty training would kind of mess things up, but clearly she did great today! She wasn’t even wearing any underwear (because we forgot them), and she still did this great!

After picking Emerson up from school (and driving across a literal ghost town of zero traffic), we played out in the backyard with bubbles and flower weeds, while the taquitos baked in the oven, and the yellow rice cooked on the stove.

We had some family play time while watching a little bit of “Up” and Emerson kept making us all glasses of hot tea. She would pretend to drink it herself, and then she would say, “Mmmmmm soooo yummy.”

She requested a snack right before bedtime, and I was so glad when she said yes to my suggestion of a squeeze-y yogurt. She said, “yeah, skeezy yogurt!” I think it was her first time having one, and she went to town on it, and ate the entire thing! I tried to teach her that it was called “go-gurt,” so we’ll see if she remembers that next time.

She hates yogurt with the little fruit chunks in it, and freaks out if there’s any “bits” in her yogurt. So these are perfect, and she was excited, because NO BITS! Haha.

Bedtime was super easy tonight, and she was down in no time at all. (Speaking of bedtime, after last night’s decent bedtime, I fell asleep on the couch, and then went to bed early. But then my poor girl woke up around 4:15am, because she had completely leaked out of her diaper and her nightgown and sheet were soaking wet. So I changed her diaper & her nightgown, but I didn’t feel like dealing with the sheet. So I just held her in the recliner in the living room, and we slept together for another couple of hours before I had to get up.)

Anyways, bedtime tonight was easy, and then I spent a while catching up on dishes from tonights dinner and some Tupperware (from cleaning out the fridge really quick after dinner) & coffee mugs and such that had been collecting, all while listening to Erin & Ben Napier’s audio book, which I just love so super much! I’m 40% in, and I am already sad thinking about it ending, because it’s just so great hearing them read their love story & their work story & their tv story, all in their own words, with their own voices. It’s so good!

The living room & dining room are both still a mess, but it looks like I’m going to just ignore that for at least another night, because I have zero energy or motivation to deal with that tonight. Instead, it’s time for Netflix with my hubby!
