New Home Decor

These little Florida girls had to get super bundled up today on this chilly morning! New jacket for Emmie, and new boots for Addie, and both were warm and cozy!

And then Jeff and I had a little project day at home. We were originally supposed to go camping over this long weekend, but due to a few factors, we decided to post-pone that until next spring. But we both already had the day off work, so we kept that approval, and stayed home to do some projects at home. Our “big” project of the day was this hallway entrance hall I’ve been collecting & thrifting decor for, for over a year now. We’ve lived in this house for almost a decade, and we’re still slowly decorating 🤣 So this was the “before” (but after we had cleared out the girls’ teepee and other random toys and junk), super plain and undecorated!

We kept the back sliding glass door open while we worked, and Pennie kept coming in and out. She loves to carry around this giant piece of wood, as if it were just a small dog toy, but we kept telling her she had to leave her log outside, that we weren’t building a bonfire in the living room! She’s such a goofy doggie.

One of my small projects today was this cute little 4×4 frame. I got this on clearance like 8+ years ago, and never used it, but kept it tucked away for “one day.” Then a couple of weeks ago, Jeff and I found these vintage-inspired Florida postcards while we were in Jacksonville, and this frame popped into my head, and I knew this would look so great. And it does! We didn’t get this hung yet, not sure where it’s gonna go, but I already love it. (The top left postcard is the Florida Theater, where we saw that concert on our anniversary trip a few weeks ago, so it was a perfect memento.)

OK, now back to the vintage-inspired hallway gallery wall….

Ta-da, all done! Well, done for now. I purposefully left space in the top center, because I had the idea to put a small vintage wooden shelf there, to display a small collection of older books. But I don’t have a shelf like that! Hoping I can thrift one in the coming days, sooner rather than later, so we can fill in that space. I also plan to find a few more smaller knick-knack items to round out a few areas, but I’m really pleased with how it looks so far! (Also, that sewing table was handed down to me from my Grandmommie, and I’m actually not even sure how old it is, but it’s perfect for this area.)

I bought this off a vintage re-seller through Facebook Marketplace, and I love this little needle-point musician girl SO much. She’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever found.

I also found this embroidered church on Facebook Marketplace, and I think it’s so pretty.

OK quick lunch break, for some fancy avovado toast on a ciabatta roll, with tomato, everything seasoning, red onion & balsamic glaze. This was DELISH. While we ate, we took a little break and watched “Sweet Home Alabama,” which is so good, but I hadn’t seen in years, and was so nostalgic and cozy.

We cleaned the living room, and washed some laundry, and Jeff folded a couple loads of laundry as well. He also ran the vacuum, specifically around Pennie’s crate, which always collects SO much dog fur. I can’t remember what else we did, but we were busy bee’s all around the house.

We went to pick up the girls early-ish from school, a little after 4pm, then hit up three different thrift stores, attempting to find a little vintage wooden shelf like I want for the wall. We didn’t find the shelf, but we did find a few books, and a cute little basket, and a cute wooden bowl.

Oh and we got got some yummy hot drinks from 7Brew for an afternoon treat. Jeff got the Santa’s Mocha (or something like that), and I got an Oatmeal Cream Pie (secret item from FB – order a hot chai latte with oat milk, vanilla, caramel & cinnamon), and both were yummy and cozy.

When we got back home, I started working on dinner, and Emerson set up their teepee in her room, since we took it down from the front door hallway. And her an Pennie had some time hanging out in there together.

And here’s another view of the front hallway, once we got home at night. (Yikes, I need to clean the edge of the wall there with a magic eraser! Didn’t notice that until right now!) It’s just so nice to have stuff up on this wall now, so much more homey feeling.

We had breakfast burritos with tater tots for diner tonight, and watched a little bit of Star Wars episode III. You can see they were zeroed in on the tv, and we had to pause the movie to take a pic with them actually looking at me.

They played and ran wild for a bit after dinner, until we finally got them reigned in and started calming down with Bluey and the bedtime routine. I’m tired now and ready for some rest, and then we get another family day at home again tomorrow, for Veterans’ Day!
